Beginner here, just gettin into the production side of things. Just looking for a recomendation on a midi keyboard i could use for production and for learning the piano on too. One with velocity sensitive keys would be ideal and a few knobs etc for the production side. average price range
If you want it for learning piano and production I think something along the lines of an Akai MPK49 will suit you well. 49 keys is about the minimum for learning piano imo.
M-Audio Oxygen 49 is what I’m using now for a cheap additional controller. As stated above, 8 knobs, 9 faders, pitch bend, mod wheel, about 17 buttons, and then the keys themselves. Plenty of stuff you can map for hours.
My only complaint would be that piano keys are not the best for juggling cues, but with the amount of controls vs cost, I can live with it till I get a couple of midi fighters.
And if you are using Ableton, Reason (I think), and a few others. There are mapppings already for these programs.
Sarcastic response would be to say ‘Yeah, where is that there Northern Ireland’. Having been to Belfast, Portrush, Bushmills and Ballyclare I shall shy away from such a response.
Belfast is one of the best nights out I’ve ever had.
I’ve never got the chance to go to Kelly’s in Portrush. I drove past it in the daytime though. I imagine it to be like the Sub Club in Glasgow, just a little bit more commercial i.e great crowd, musical knowledge and fantastic DJ’s. Am I right?
Never been to the sub club, but have been to kellys bit too commercial for my likings these days but have been to sasha, digweed, carl cox etc there in the past and the place was mental, class crowd all going nuts
