MIDI over USB for iOS apps? Looks interesting…

Thanks auto correct..suppose to read “over usb”

Toyed around with it for a little bit. Works pretty well for the apps I have. Haven’t checked latency is in Logic or Live yet, but planning on incorporating into my home setup.

yah i was thinking how nice it might be to play animoog and some other synths over midi… and was thinking of dj apps that allow midi and a full controller..

id like to see some live implementation vids

Midi is only the notes being played, not the synth information.

But essentially that company has made a product that fixes a non existent problem..

yah but ad hoc wireless is figety and laggy…a wired connection would be way faster and more reliable?

and considering they make the most feature rich and flexible iOS dj app, and also one of the most stable remote ableton controls, i figure they arent wasting time fixing non existing problems…

something like this would make it possible to have a rock steady connection between like cross dj and a full size DJ control.

Midis data can contain synth information such as osc settings adsr filter and do on midi is not strictly notes.

Completely agree, i was posting pretty confidently without using anything like this myself. Only seen my friend use the wireless sync.

And your right about the midi data but im getting at the fact it doesnt import the audio through midi

of course not, but to have hardware control , wired , over iOS apps is pretty nice

Could change the game, although I have a buddy running ableton with massive and serum on his phone lol. Not an iphone tho

Fixed =)

thanks.. a short time later i discovered this other new app , touting the same usb to iOS connectivity

This one is promising audio too in the future. Now, we are talking.

I remember seeing enhanced midi and audio stuff in a recent apple SDK… So all of these apps coming out are not too surprising. They are very good for us, though!

Yup, iOS 8 added some cool stuff

I wanted to update this thread.. They also now have a bundle including another app called audiomux which
Has the reverse functionality , making it possible to for instance , control iPad apps as plus ins… I found the bundle on the App Store and picked it up… I’ll let ya guys know what I think once I get a chance to test it.

Pretty exciting…

MIDI over Ad-hoc has been wofle Jenny experience. After using Touchsble 3 with midi over USB, I’ve had no problems at all. Looking forward to checking these apps out.
