Minimal and Melancholia Mix–Mostly minimal, not particularly melancholic

Hey folks,

Just wanted to toss a mix up to begin integrating myself into this community (long-time lurker), and to maybe get some constructive criticism. Mixed in Traktor Pro on an Allen & Heath XD with Maschine running effects. There’s sort of a flub toward the tail end of the mix, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out in general.

I would have listened to this (tracklist looks interesting) but these days I only have time to listen to mixes via streaming, and for that I need download links. FWIW!

i’ve got at least 70% of the tracks in that mix myself. will def listen to it when i get a chance, come a d/l link–which would be nice–or not.

I finally had a chance to listen to your mix. Good work! Nice track selection, and I really liked the “dramaturgy” of it. I have two minor points to make.

First, the set becomes pretty peak-timish through your use of Machine, i.e. at times the effects aren’t exactly subtle. I don’t mean this as a criticism and this might be obvious to you anyways. Just wanted to mention it. I played your mix at a small end-of-year get-together and my beer-drinking, weed-smoking friends in their late 20s/early 30s found it a little too rough at times. (As for myself, I thought your use of Maschine was pretty cool.)

Second, occasionally the phasing wasn’t 100% spot-on (or maybe, the effects weren’t perfectly tempo-synced). I’d have to listen to it again to pin-point it exactly. It certainly was never off severely but it seemed there were two, three spots somewhere in the middle of the mix where it wasn’t completely tight.
