minimal tech house

anybody know any really good minimal tech house and minimal underground techno artists?

i really wanna make a minimal techno mix.
if i’m even thinking of the right genre lol. i dont know any artists but its popular at raves

Go to beatoport and choose minimal as the genre, you’ll find everything you need there

I dig Chris Carrier in this genre; also Mark Chambers; John Margulies hobotech project is really cool if you’re into that sort of sampling… But I second the beatport idea; there is a lot of this stuff and I don’t even know the names of most of the stuff I hear in this genre.

These threads are starting to get on my nerves. Why not put the time and effort into looking for it yourself instead of asking others what artist you should be downloading?

The question is why do you want to make a minimal/tech house mix in the first place? Did you hear a mix that caught your attention? If so maybe you should start by finding the tracks and artists on that mix, find out what label(s) they’re on and see who else is on there and then just play connect the dots from there.

Or are you doing it because it seems like the “popular” thing to do? What kind of styles/genre’s do you mix at the moment? Why are you feeling the need to abandon your first love?

If you just download all the “popular” or “well known” names and make a mix with their tunes it’s just going to show that you have no passion, desire, love or knowledge of the scene and will come off as being very dull, vanilla, dry and old hat as everyone and there mother has played those artists tracks to death.

There’s SO much good music out there, and it’s so easily available that threads like these should never be seen, ever.

Not that i disagree with fully, however did u notice this guys new? he joined like last month. hes probably young say 14-18 and may even be new to djing/production.

U kinda come off sorta mean in a way. not how we should treat new users on DJTT. IMHO.

theres nothing wrong with him asking these questions. sh*t if i had a forum like this in 1998 when i first started id bee asking questions to. Of course there wasnt so i had to learn everything on my own and develop with out the help of a DJ community or even friends that were djs.

Also, it seems that tech house is sort of a new genre to him, so he probably has no idea whats going on within that scene. what wrong with pointing him in a direction.

I thought this site was all about helping each other out.

actually.
the reason i wanted to make a minimal tech house mix, is because i have heard quite a few dj’s playing at shows where i’m from and i really enjoyed the music.
it has nothing to do with popularity.
i currently mix dubstep, and started a house side project.
i like to explore different genres, and i like to combine them.
in some of my dubstep steps, i would mix in electro, drum and bass, and even hardstyle one time.

and that is the exact reason why i posted this. so, i could hear what people from here listen to.
if i wanted popular, mainstream shit i would just google it.

but actually, i’ve been producing and dj’ing for a few years.
just recently found out about this site.
i got in the scene when i was 13

and yes, minimal tech is something that i’ve never really got into before.
i’ve heard it but just recently started taking a liking to it.

A site like this has been a revelation to me as a (proud) noob. I have garnered lots of invaluable info from it, but have nowhere near the experience of some of the guys on the forums. But, I DO know about this genre. Just trying to put back.

if you like minimal techno look up chris liebing, richie hawtin, and drumcell top 10’s and setlists. thats a good place to start.

As the old saying goes, give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a life time.

I’m a stronger believer in showing some one new HOW I go about searching for music then actually telling them WHAT I search for. This way it allows him to build and develop his own style instead of us molding him with our suggestions.

And he already stated he’s a DJ, what he plays and that he’s interested in “exploring” different styles. But I think by asking other people for suggestions he’s not really “exploring” he’s just looking for an easy/lazy way to find out what other people like in “minimal/tech house” instead of actually “exploring” like he stated and finding what he likes.

Yeah well, most the names I’ve seen listed in here are what’s considered “popular” for their genre, so you might as well have just Googled or gone to the Beatport charts for minimal and techno.

I’m all for helping people out, but I’m not a big fan of just spoon feeding them. I’d rather give them the tools and show them how to make a fire, instead of just giving him a fire and leaving him to fend for himself.

And asking for “Minimal Tech House” artist is such a broad and wide open statement there’s no way to get a comprehensive list of he’s looking for.

Maybe some one should ask what he liked about what he heard, and more about the feeling and vibe he’s looking to get from “minimal tech house”. Maybe post a mix of one of the DJ’s he heard for use to listen to so we can better pin point it.

Hell, for all we know it might not even be minimal tech house, that’s just what he perceives it as at the moment. Maybe it’s more contemporary house and techno, or some of that new Berlin/Mannheim deep house but with a techno aesthetic coming out of Germany the past two or three years.

There’s more questions I think we need answered before we can really start helping him find what he’s looking for. At the moment we’re just taking shots in the dark with no real idea how close or far away we are from the bulls eye.
