Mixers with built in soundcards
Hi,
All the latest flagship mixers seem to come with built in soundcard.
Is this a good thing to have?
Will they work with TSP2, will it have the same sound quality as your Audio6/8/10?
Will you get to use all the features on TSP2 with a mixer that has a built in soundcard?
Are they a good thing or is everyone happy to use their own external
soundcard?
What are your views on these kind of mixers
now that the rane mixers have asio drivers you can pretty much count on the fact that its likely the best soundcard/mixer combo money can buy.
same with the new allen and heath mixer. im hoping to god a&h releases drivers for the xone:dx as well. the soundcard on that thing is a beast as well.
Yeah I’m in two minds about the DB4,
it’s the cost that’s really putting me off buying the DB4
You can only get the timecode features of Traktor scratch pro with a Traktor Certified mixer. you can use most soundcards, but not for timecode control.

Well you can’t buy a scratch licence without the harware so that shouldn’t be a problem, just plug your Audio 4 or 8 or TA 6 or 10 into whichever mixer you like.

I’m not wanting to fork our money for a mixer(DB4)with built in soundcard
if I can’t use it with Tsp 2.
If you could get a DB4 without the soundcard it would be cheaper and
better for users who would like to use timecode control and external soundcard.
I think I’ll stick with my xone 92 at the moment and upgrade to Tsp2
The 92 is one of the best mixers so I think you should keep it. I have a 4d and the sound card is great and is certified to use with scratch pro and sounds amazing as well. Either the denon 1600 is certified and the mackie d.2 and d.4 IMO those are the best combos sound card-mixer. At least the xone will sound equally good to the NI sound cards. The xone card is 10 in and 10 out so will be very similar to ta-10 and has thru option as well.
DB4 is expected to become Scratch Certified, but it’s not yet. There’s a thread in the NI forums where mixarchitect advises all DB4 (potential) customers to give a +1 on the Certification request.

Probably the hottest option these days is the Denon DN-X1600. It is Scratch Certified, and also the one NI chose to demo the new TSP 2 with ! 
if you’re willing to pay for a DB4, probably the best choice for you is to stay with the 92 for a couple of more months and keep an eye on the DB4’s scratch certified status at:
