ive been trying different combos lately of trying to just drop a 90 bpm song from a 120 bpm, anyone have a link to anyone showing some stuff on this on youtube? cant seem to find any good resources, it should technically fit if done properly as 3 beats of 120 is EXACTLY 4 beats at 90
ha yeah… first thing i tried i was really trying to find that right combo that if it was looped it would make an interesting poly rythym, but yeah so far everything ive tried sounds like poop. it should be technically possible, just a matter of it not sounding like it came out of my ass
+1. You’ll prolly just have to slam them together. I also like that beatslicer idea or possibly filter the outgoing track out or use some sort of effect combo to destroy the beat.
quick slam drop on the one sounds the best, and maybe its a matter of selection but i am disappointed that layering phrases and loops im not getting any nice poly rhythms, im getting turds. seems like the more fx i place on top the more conspicuously out of place it sounds
Been doing this the other way with 5 beat loops taken from a 175 track, and mixing in.a 140…
Works best if you loop a section with no snare drum… Just kicks is fine, just bass or synth, but snare will fuck up.
I also mapped a button that sets a normal loop (4 beats in my case) and then moves the loop out forward one beat on release. You could use the same method the other way…
Is there a good breakdown or intro without an obvious rhythm that doesn’t clash? If not then you’ll have to just slam, use echo freeze, find a good 4 beat loop, or backspin. DJ Oneman is a good person to study. He mixes UK Garage, future garage, old school dubstep, juke, grime, disco, house, and RnB. Most of the songs vary in BPM. You can find his mixes for download at rinse fm’s website under Sunday’s.
Loop Size & Set > Direct > 4
Cue/Loop Move Mode > Loop Out
Move Size > 1
Cue/Loop Move > Increase > INVERT
press and hold the button to set and hold a 4 beat loop, i hold for 16 beats, then release at same time as pressing play on other deck, which moves the loop out point. spice up with effects as desired, e.g filter 92 lfo.
set new deck to master (could be added to mapping i guess) so effects work better
One comment on my idea. As if you would kick the other song in on the 1 it would be a bit drop so you could build it a bit up with some psycadelic fx like some delay and reverb so it won’t be so harsh
Uh oh… I see no mention of building pre-made transition tracks. Is this a no-no? Am I doing myself an injustice by not doing my transitions on the fly??? I must know!!!
