Mixing outside with VCI-100

Mixing outside with VCI-100

I took my vci-100 outside for a couple of pool party’s this summer and I ran into a ‘‘daytime’’ problem…

I can’t see the LED lights lol… the LED’s aren’t bright enough for outside daytime use and I need the on or off LED indicator for some of the functions..

Anyone having the same problem/annoyance?
or
Anyone have tips on how to better use the vci-100 outside? (maybe replace the LED lights for brighter ones?)

Thanks in advance

maybe something that puts shade over the vci? replacing leds would be a ton of work.

Yeah thats exactly what i thought.
Just make a surround for it. Changing the LEDS, i dont even know that it could be done.

the other problem in direct sun, after about 2 hours, the vci starts heating up like a mofo.

Is that cus your using a black one that absorbs the heat.
Maybe the silver would give you a nice face tan !!! Well mine would as im only 5ft 4" so not to far away from the VCI

hahahaa

lol.. I am using a black one but I never use my equipment in direct sun.

I always have something on top of me and my equipment to be in the shade and to protect my gear against the rain (should it happen) but even with the shade and me trying to isolate the buttons from the light with my hand, I still can’t see if the LED are on or off lol…

Maybe it was brighter days than normal

I guess I will try different set ups.. (I might attempt to change the LED though :eek:slight_smile:

dont have a solution as such, but if you are considering changeing the LEDs it would be well worth talking to

lol4k

as weve had a similar convo and hes changed every single LED on the VCI-100SE

do you need to see the led’s to mix with it?

Only to use some of the effects… some LED on the VCI would tell me if I am adjusting for deck A or B depending if they are turned on or off.

I will consider a different assignment config of the effects on the VCI but I might talk to lol4k about changing the LED… I will let you all know what’s the outcome of it if I do.

Thanks for the replies!

I’ve done a few outdoors but they’ve been at night so haven’t had this situation yet.

Changing LEDs will be a major problem, you have to consider space inside the unit, power consumption, heat etc etc…

I’ve had this problem too, when DJ’ing outside, all I can suggest is paying close attention to your laptop screen if you can’t see what’s happening on the LED’s.

I find that the transport button LED’s and some of the others that light up blue are fine outside, its just the ones that are either off or green that are too feint.

Come on!

Best thing about mixing in the daytime (Which i know nothing about) is being able to wear your shades!

You might possibly see the LED’s when you got em on.

Worth a shot!

playing during the day would require getting up before 3pm, so thats me out
