Monoprice DJ Gear???

Monoprice DJ Gear???

I’m sure a lot of you guys have heard of Monoprice. Use to be the cheap HDMI cord retailer. Since they’ve expanded their product line to include studio monitors to mixers to more recently CDJ like and all-in-one controllers (http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=115&cp_id=11506).

This is in no way an add for the site but just curiosity if anyone has had any experience with their gear.

Something like this, http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=115&cp_id=11506&cs_id=1150605&p_id=614700&seq=1&format=2, which offers CD inputs as well as flash drives with displays and mixer for under $300???

I’m tempted to buy it just to see if they actually pulled this off.

Color me curious as well

I wouldn’t shell out any money on the CDJs/Controllers, but the mixer could potentially be pretty good.

Monoprice puts out solid products.

Probably standard OEM stuff. I wouldn’t touch it, but buy cables from them all the time. Top quality at a good price for most of that stuff.

What do you mean by OEM stuff? And yeah their cables are top notch.

OEM = Designed and built by some cheap manufacturer and everyone and their mother rebrand it to call their own.

Certainly looks to the case, and don’t see anything groundbreaking.

This shows a lot of their stuff they are coming out, including a turntable for 129.99!!! :tada::tada:

I emailed and asked them about when they would release it and they said they are currently in the testing phase at the moment, which I think is BS since they had one working there but I’m sure it was a prototype. My guess is that they are getting very close to being finished. I’m sure it’ll be released this year, and if it is I’d be willing to give them a try, specially at that price.

the laptop stand is the only thing that interests me… I would like to know how solid it is though, that is a crazy cheap price!

I just got off the phone with them like 30 minutes ago and so far they said the cdj thing is still in question. A lot of cdj users like to have a screen to see wave forms and something i would like to see is cue points. The one they have released is the entry level cdj. I’m sure if enough of us comment on social media about our needs/wants, they should answer. I am personally curious about their 4 channel mixer! I want to get my hands on that.

As far as the laptop stand goes, I would love to see someone do it as good as crane. I spent $150 foe the crane stand pro, I have never regretted my decision.

As I mentioned in the Monoproce mixer thread, Monoprice DO NOT design dj gear.

They re-brand cheap OEM DJ gear from China. I pointed out two examples on the mixer tread of the Monoprice DJ mixer and twin deck CD players that are available under a ton of different brand names. The crane stand lookalike is also available from various asian suppliers from $15-$20 bulk wholesale.

I would not hold my breath on custom form or function unless one of these Chinese suppliers decides to add the features to their existing products (that they sell to everyone else).
