MPC Element

I ordered an Akai MPC Element hoping to use it in a way that would let me trigger loops for performance based work but discovered that it’s more for producing and only works with the MPC Essentials software. Is there a way in which I can configure it to a midi controller to trigger one hit and looping samples in DAWs such as Ableton.
