Multiple tracks, Skype, and other such frivolities.

At some point this summer I intend on recording a podcast/radio show with partner in grime Jody Neil Ruth. It’s going to be new music and lots of idle banter.

I would like to be able to:

  • Play Tunes
  • Have Jody participate via Skype (or similar)
  • Potentially have other guests join via Skype or similar
  • Do live mixes
  • Record Everything internally onto my laptop’s hard disk.

I have random kit to accomplish this:

  • Traktor S4
  • TSP 2
  • Ableton Live
  • Multiple PCs (if needed)
  • Multiple USB Headsets/Mics
  • A crappy 3 channel Numark Mixer

I will worry about live broadcasting at a later date but would take any recommendations on that now.

So, whats the simplest, fool proof way to set this up?

no words of wisdom i’m afraid… but i just read your mate’s new years eve blog entry… genius

If this goes according to plan we’ll be the next big thing!

Sounds like a great idea. I’m sure with you and Jody doing this I’ll need some adult diapers. That way I won’t make a mess when I piss myself laughing. Both of you are funny as hell. I can’t wait!

Would be potentially better to have Jody participate via something like Ventrillo which has a far lower impact on your connection as well as CPU, RAM, etc.

+1

I’d worry about bandwidth with streaming and Skype. Doing it as a pre record as live would be easier but not as fun

Any suggestions on managing the various channels?
