Music suggestions from my Industrial friends

Music suggestions from my Industrial friends

I have a gig coming up soon and I am opening up the place. So what I need to find is the equivalent or chill or minimal techno/house but in the industrial genre.

I need bands, songs (if possible) and where to get it (itunes, beatport, etc).

I was really wanting some slow sexy beats too. I really don’t have an ear for goth, but if there is some out there that is melo but still has a little grunge to it… that would be nice. Hell I’ll even play some Dubstep that has a nice dark feel to it. Thanks ahead of time, I really need this.

The post is supposed to say… from my Industrial friends. Silly me.

Well it depends on what direction we’re talking.
You can go the wolfsheim, fantasia, melotron (mellow deep house equivilant) route.

You can go the minimalistic/ambient route. Skinny Puppy, Juno Reactor, Attrition, Coil, Cabaret Voltaire, Current 93, Endif…

You can go the 80’s/90’s EBM route, ministry, front 242, fron tline assembly, nitzer ebb, microchip league, Fad Gadget, Mussolini Headkick, bigod 20…

I could really go on…

But yeah it just depends on really what style you’re going for. There’s as much diversity in goth/industrial as there is in all dance/electronic music genres combined.

I appreciate you love industrial and everything, but that’s clearly nonsense.

I was going to mention Jacob London, they’re dancey and industrial-influenced.

Hey, It’s called hyperbole. I always say that to help people understand the massive amount of diversity within the “dark” side of electronic music.

Sure, maybe there’s not an equivilent underground somolian dub ragga step trance. But the dark music scene has a wide range of diversity most outsiders don’t recognize until they spend some time in one of our clubs.

also i think those guys might be too french house influenced to go over well in an industrial club. you might get lynched by some marlyn manson look alike. ;

I’m a big fan of Twinkle (and anything on Ant-Zen, really), Hansel (more hip-hop blast beat kinda stuff), Trigger10d, Resurrection Eve, Daizychain, Puscifer, Skinny Puppy (like Worlock style SP), SMP (also a bit of hip-hop), some Unit:187, etc..

Monstrum Sepsis, Haujobb, mindFIELD, some Individual Totem, Fixmer McCarthy, Cylab are some other ones that spring to mind. Also I drop some slower NIN, Tool, and Stabbing Westward in my opening sets. Sometimes the tension of a good guitar chord will build some pretty amazing energy.

When I spin I try to stay away from one solid type/genre of music. There are lots of options available in this scene.

And you can find almost all of this on eMusic, iTunes and Beatport.

To be fair, Moniker, a lot of Marilyn Manson look-alikes will lynch you when you spin anything other than Marilyn Manson.

lol, hell I think I nearly got lynched last time i DID play marlyn manson…damn snooty goth kids. haha

hehe yeah, we’re a fickle lot, aren’t we?

That new album was absolutely fantastic!!

I haven’t heard the new one yet. I only have Between The Devil, which I love.

OH! And how could I forget about genCAB? Perish the Thought is amazing as an early night

stray!

YES! Stray is really great, and Erica Dunham needs the help now regardless, so it all works in everyone’s favor.

Also the Spawn Soundtrack has some great selections, ESA, Ego Likeness, Tapping the Vein, Marching Dynamics, ::wumpscut::, Velvet Acid Christ, if you want more gothy then The Virgin Prunes and The March Violets are good.

And Suicide Inside. All good stuff  Especially for first set warm-up evil dark tracks.

I gotta get her butt away from work so we can go out drinking. get her mind off things for a weekend or something

That’s probably a good idea. If I were her friend I’d probably do the same thing.

Oh, and Mind.In.A.Box, P.A.L., Tonikom, Ohgr, Gary Numan, Scandy (Really only the track Down. Don’t buy the album. It’s not worth listening to), Praga Khan, The PCP Principle, Psychopomps, Monolith, Stromkern, Radioactive Sandwich, T. Raumschmere, Miss Kittin, Pig, and Mentallo & The Fixer… also good choices.

And now I’m off to lunch, and then maybe I’ll stop updating this thign long enough to get some work done

I enjoyed the scandy album! Good choices.

Oh you can also never fail with classics.

Radiohead, bjork, kraftwerk…

Heyzuse Christ… That’s a lot. I did recognize a lot of the bands and I am sure I have some songs by them. I do agree with Fixmer, awesome, to fast for opening though. I have 13 ways to masturbate by Scandy good album indeed.
