My 1st snag with S4/TP2 on Windows

My 1st snag with S4/TP2 on Windows

If I’m recording a mix - using the INTERNAL recording option -

  • using S4 soundcard
  • headphone monitoring
  • pre-analyzed playlist
  • minimal EFX
At some point - round about 18min - EVERY TIME - I get a brief sound drop-out. Anything from barely audible to up to a second’s silence. Set-up runs FAULTLESS before and after that point.

Any one got any ideas please?

Thank you.

Perhaps the filesize setting on when you split the files? I know my gui locks up briefly when i hit the default 650MB

Bluetooth or wifi on?

@ AW - I have my file size set @ max - it’s not in the recording, but in the broadcast.

@ Skankin’ PJ - no. All off, including antivirus. Only got TP2 running. I have not partitioned my drive, nor scripted non-essentials in Windows to off. Think I should?

Try running game booster…sounds like a pesky service giving you issues.

Maybe it’s the power save on the USB ports.

Thanks BB - wildo - I see you’re also on Windows. My Asus has similar specs, I assume you have no issues?

As you know 'Rog - been bragging about USB3.0, so I’m not sure it it applies. I will use the 2.0 port and see if I have the same.

Yea my Dell runs smooth. Gamebooster turns off services that may disrupt your audio, it gives me piece of mind when I play. You may also want to do a quick search for Windows audio tweaks and do the most common ones.

Let me know how it goes, we’ll brainstorm if the issue continues.

Thanks for your feedback BB and PJJ.
- downloaded gameboost
- did Microsoft’s recommended tweaks for optimising audio
NO MORE ISSUES.

Excellent!

Do you have a link on Microsoft’s recommended tweaks for audio? I did some searching and find plenty of links from various places, but nothing from MS.

Would also prefer an ‘official’ MS site, but this seemed the most reputable. All seems fine since. Recorded a 90min set today - glitch free.

Great to hear the glitch is sorted out!!!

Interesting reads in the link!! I came across a similar problem when i changed from pc to laptop about 3 months ago… immediately went to the NI forum and saw some nice tips from there as well… Also came across this super cool apps that measures the latency of your pc… It’s called DPC latency checker… Often use it before i start a set, just to check that that all the kids are sitting nice and quite on the back seat while dady is doing his thang!! lol  Oh, and shud one of them make a noice i run Latencymon just to check which one it is…

I used these..

Thanks man - disabling USB powering down and using DJTT USB cables seems to have been final nail in the 'drop-out’s coffin.
