My DJ promo !!! DJ DaMi GLO Nightclub Long Island NYC !!! EPK press kit
Hey everyone whats going on ?? This is a little something i put together for my EPK kit that i started … please tell me what you think ?? Looking to maybe get some out of State gigs i am will to pay for travel and hotel … Thank you
Also a little compiliation that i put together of the entire night of me and my local DJ’s that spun the night !!!
thank you for the “i look miserable comment” lololol lmao … the reason why is because that night i promoted the gig with only 3 days notice (and still pull 740 people STRESSED !!! ) prepared music, got the camera, filmed, spun my set, booked tables i was doing everything and no one was helping whaT so ever … so i put everything i had into it bc if it wasn’t for my self nothing would get done no one would help me you know ??
@djnewave thanks a lot I’m definitely going to be at GLO again just not sure of the date yet however GLO will be shutting down after June there doing another Renovation on the club going to be 2 floors I heard … @Jasonbay the reason is because I recently read an article about doing gigs out of state or aboard and have talk to friends in the industry and they said as long as your willing to pay for travel and hotel it would be easier for the promoters to promote and out of state DJ coming from NYC even tho I might not be David guetta or SHM it all depends on how good the promotion teams are and I understand a local guy can bring a following however maybe u can bring new people or even the locals also to hear a new DJ bc hearing the same people every weekend sometimes slows the flow of guest for that club hearing the same sound every weekend …
Also it’s a great way of networking between DJ’s and promoters … You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours .. Let just say I have a gig in Rhode Island and it’s a success the next time I get a gig in NYC that DJ from Rhode Island will be the first person I call to get his name out in NYC !!! Were all in it together and if we don’t help each other out it just makes it ten times harder to reaching our goals & dreams
you’ve got the right idea man, your just posting up in the wrong place try to add up promoters on facebook and message them with your promo material, you’ll have a lot more success that way.
@Izmremix I was thinking about doing that also but how am I going to find promoters from out of state or even aboard ??? Don’t know what I could put in the search you know ?? Thanks for all the support and feedback on this post it highly appreciated !!
defo do what jasonbay said and check out forums for that city’s scene. also look up what events are going on in the city, go to the facebook event page and check out who is hosting the event.
First off - the video is horrible - as mentioned, you look like your waiting to have your teeth removed at the dentist - even when you wave your hands around it looks forced.
Next…you don’t want to get into the whole ‘i’ll pay to come’ and favors-for-sets vibe - once you start on that slope it’s game over and you’ll look back and see kids going past you and wonder why. Success comes from having something people want, not because you paid for your own flight…the more I think about that the more I can’t even believe you would consider doing it.
My advice to you is to make interesting demos, interesting tracks, remixes, free bootlegs and just work REALLY FUCKING HARD. Like every day…for years. Constantly letting people know about your product (sets/tracks/remixes/bootlegs/upcoming dates) will eventually begin to grab the notice of promoters who will be willing to invest money and time into you.
Finally, I’m sorry for coming across so blunt - I don’t mean to insult you, but hard work is how your dreams will be achieved, not telling a promoter you’ll cover your own costs.
that is exactly what i was just about to write. don´t step into that “on-your-own-costs”-trap. most promoters wont take you serious and if they do they´ll always rely on that offer. so your chance to someday break even would be lost.
work your ass off, promoto but don´t spam, get in contact with local promoters, make friends, socialise a lot in the clubscene and so on. this will take years and it can be sometimes frustrating but it´ll pay off as long as you keep pushing yourself to the limits!
