my first club gig
what should i do.
i am getting there an hour early to set up make sure my computer is running right. but still just nervous as hell right now.
but its a latin club called Romba Latina, so should be fun be playin hip hop and reaggaton so i should have a damn good time.

I remember my first couple gigs I made a few minor yet stupid mistakes that wouldn’t have happened if I was focusing on the task at hand more. Thankfully the crowd was quite forgiving as it was a very laid back atmosphere, a hipster coffee shop!

Yo omg I am on cloud fuckin 9 right now, It went great tonight he hired me on as a resident dj for hip hop and old school rnb. I keep everybody dancin a few times people left the floor, but they always came back.
Only thing that sucked was my external hard drive crashed on me so I lost over 60 gigs worth of hip hop, and my own listening music, really sad i lost all my dj shadow and coheed albums.
But I didn’t run out of music which was good, made some minor stupid mistakes, i forgot to turn the volume fader down when I was cueing lol. But everything was fine.
But I blew the club owners mind and also the other 2 resident dj’s they didn’t know what the hell I was doing with ableton, every 5 seconds they were over my shoulder looking at what was going on.
Finally all my hard work practicing in my room has paid off.

Congrats, man, that’s knocking one outta the park. Re ext. HD, I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about gigging with them, and my own experience is that USB drives just get wacky sometimes. I personally don’t trust them for gigs. If possible, a laptop with 2 HDs that has the OS/apps on one and the tracks on the other is the way to go.
yea if my comp could hold 2 hd i would do that, krilikz has went that way also. but i really need to get a new laptop anyway so thats one of the specs i am lookin for.

So did you catch any heat for not using CDJs etc.? That’s my main concern…
actually no i didn’t i had to use the cdjs once cause i didn’t have a song everybody wanted to hear, but i mixed perfectly back into my ableton set, the owner was fine with it tho.
yea i have run out of knobs and sliders its time to look for a new controller so I am looking at adding a trigger finger along with it.
