So, just signed up since a friend referred me here, and thought you guys would like this. Anyway, here’s my set. It’s a circular piece of glass, projection mapped with 3D projections from a custom app that I designed a while back for the iPad. I stand behind it with a body suit with LED’s all over it, and i do my thing. People watch as the projections move around the glass, and I move behind it.
for anyone wondering also what I use to mix, i switch back and fourth between using an iPad for live use, and using a Cortex DMIX600. (working up financially to get the S4)
I also would like to share with you the in progress, floating floor and wall studio that will be done this coming week. in this picture its a bit of a mess, but a beauty for tech people
Don’t have any clear video of it on stage yet, but will soon heres a video that was made to test it, in the very early stages around february. (ignore the sloppiness of the quality. going to be putting up some really nice vids soon)
Well actually, I don’t hide behind the glass (this is why a video is important). I stand behind the glass with a full on body suit that lights up, so they can see my outline. I’ll post a picture later of what im talking about
I see in your video you are using Luminair on the iPad. What exactly is it controlling? Are you doing something with Art-Net and the projection system?
I use that with the separate art net companion app for mac simply for dmx purposes, with a combination of two apps that I built that run all at the same time through the multitasking on the iPad. Theres another app that I built separately for the mac, which communicates to an arduino controller, and allows me to control the 3D video system, all from the iPad. If you’d like to learn more about it, feel free to private message me, and I can go further into detail there.
Here’s a picture of what I’m talking about with being able to see me through the glass. See that shape in the middle of the glass? thats what people see as me on stage. and when I move, they see it move and change colors.
Thanks man! I certainly have enjoyed building it, and its great because since its controlled by an iPad, I can change it by building different apps, etc. Also, @Ryan, working on building my own lighting program as well for the DMX aspect of it.
I would love that if it were the case. Back in the day, you never saw the DJ. The booth and DJ were never really the focus. The patrons themselves and the music were the centerpieces of every club.
