Need design-advice for ali.dj

I’ve been tweaking www.ali.dj . Now I need some advice from you. Here are my questions:

#1: I want to replace the Twitter- and Rss-Image with grungy icons. Were shall I place them?

#2: A new logo would be cool. Any suggestion or would someone even make one for me?

#3: Instead of showing German and English as text I’d like to show flags, but where (they should be easily recognizable)

#4: I introduced a feedback-button today. Anyone has a more stylish one?

#5: Other cool ideas ?

You could put the flags in the menu bar, to the right of the “contact” link.
I would get rid of the statistics part, it adds nothing to the page and the data is rather meaningless to the general user.
Minor quirk on the english page : since “home” is always ali.dj, going there switches the user back to German. You should probably change it to be en.ali.dj when browsing the english version.
Not much advice for the logo (except find a better font!), but in general I think the layout could use some tightening in relation to a grid.

  • look at the things I have highlighted
  • get your CSS right - the landing page is a mess
  • fix the language consistency or just stick to one language. hint: everybody in your target audience speaks english
  • use design elements that fit together better, create a “CI” of sorts and stick to it
  • the page is cluttered with graphical information that could easily be shown as text-only
  • what is the “familienkasse” letter for? looks completely unrelated
  • “ali’s dünnpfiff” (literally “bullshit” or “anal waste”) doesn’t make you look good at all
  • your current facebook profile pic is better than the one on your site
  • logo: a stylized bad-ass hedgehog along the lines of “shadow” from the sonic series?

I dont like header, i preffer minimalistic themes like here: phatt.pl, one colour, some gradients only, maybe damask, and it’s all :slight_smile: header on ali.dj making my eyes a little weird ;p rest is almost ok, pagination can be moved to footer, it’s a first site where i see pagination on top :smiley:

no, just fix your design. and remember: everything besides the technical aspect is a question of taste.

Started cleaning up the look.
The content-area got 40px wider which improves the readability.
I just don’t like the flag icons. Anyone got better ones?

How about some more suggestions?

getting there, but you’re just at the beginning IMO. I like that you changed your profile pic, but there’s still an awful lot going on with the site that distracts visitors from the content (and it still says “ali’s bullshit”). I’d take a good long look at the header for starters…
