Need help with Splitter Cables

Need help with Splitter Cables

HEY GUYS!

This is my first post in this forum

I’m having a few issues, and i’d be glad if I could get some advice or help.

My DJ setup comprises just a Laptop and Traktor Pro. I’ve learnt to beat-match manually and it’s been like 4 months since I started out.

I would like to split the sound going from my laptop soundcard so that the mix plays on my speakers and the cued signal plays on my headphones.

Now I know the only way to achieve this is to get either a DJ splitter or a Soundcard, but both are out of my reach, since my parents do not support my career as a DJ/music producer and I’m pretty much on my own. I can’t even afford a 20 bucks dj splitter since I’m saving up to buy a decent controller+PA setup. I have purchased a normal stereo splitter for a buck however.
I want you to take a look at this comment

In the article, it mentions clearly that you can’t split a signal using a normal stereo splitter, but the guy who wrote the comment, somehow managed to do so.

Can anyone please help me out, and explain to me if this is possible? If so, can you please help me out on how to configure it in the Output Routing Of Traktor Pro?

Many Thanks

Buy one of these:

and one of these:

2 mono signals from a stereo signal… Job done.

You need to set your output routing to:

Headphones:

left = headphones
right = nothing

Master out:

left = nothing
right = Speakers

Then, make sure you have the crossfader, and eq’s visible in traktor. Just below the B deck you will see 3 round eq’s. Use the ‘headphones mix’ eq to head whats playing in your headphones, whilst mixing in your headphones.

Ideally you need a 2-1 splitter, they are on ebay for like $1..

Then your output routing would be

headphones
L
R

Speakers

L
R

Have the headphone mix eq somewhere around 2 o clock to ensure best sound quality

Um… I guess the price is a typo on that eBay listing Patch..?

Nope. That’s the NI version…

:wink:
