Need Space-themed Music!

Hey everyone!

I am playing a show at the St. Louis Planetarium in two weeks. It is for a college party called “Night Under the Stars,” and will be under the star-dome in the planetarium! My friend is taking care of additional lighting (lots of lasers). Needless to say, I am very excited.

Anyway, I was looking through my library for songs that have lyrics about stars, the moon, other planets, aliens, and the like, but am having trouble. I am sure you guys have some gems, so please post up suggestions!

And here are some pictures of the venue. We won’t have any tables on the main floor; it will be one huge dancefloor. The picture is taken from what will be the DJ booth

Estimated attendance is 400. I’m not sure how much Trance I’ll go for; I know house and hip hop much, much better. Also, it’s a college crowd, so I expect they’ll want the latest top40 and brostep. Then again, the night is a musical journey and reading the crowd is imperative, so who knows where it’ll go?

Keep it up with the music posts, I’ll definitely give everything a listen

You should definitely try to incorporate something from the Star Wars soundtracks into your set. Some of those tracks from the original trilogy are timeless classics. Hope everything goes well for your gig.

Big Bang by Dave Skywalker might be suitable if you like the musical style. You can get it on the free Hardcore Breaks Sampler Vol 2 from here.

Wow, what a great response! I really appreciate it, guys (and gals if there are any in hurr). Anyway, here’s my opinion of the songs thus far:

Hardwell - Spaceman: Would probably go well halfway through the night. Wish there were some spacey lyrics.

Wolfgang Gartner - Space Junk: This song was in my library in the pile of songs that I had felt obligated to get but never really liked. Upon listening again, I think that this song has a wonderful breakdown, but the drop annoys the heck out of me. I will definitely mix in the breakdown, then hard slam to another song.

Billy Johnston & Gennaro Mastrantonio - Space (Original mix): Unfortunately, my knowledge of minimal is well… minimal. I like the song, however I wouldn’t be very stoked to dance to it if I were on the dancefloor.

Big Bang - Dave Skywalker: As a bboy, I love breaks. However, when I hear, I want to throw down, not dance with the ladies. Also, I don’t know a lot of songs in the break genre (however I do know of many breaks because as a bboy you hear them at every single freaking jam you go to).

Final Countdown - I’ve heard this way to many times to want to hear it again.

War - Galaxy: This is one of my favorite songs, period. I don’t know if you’ve heard of bboy cloud, but he made a pretty fantastic video to the song (

). However, I will have to give some thought as to how to get such a funky song in with my set. Maybe during warmup.

Kool Keith/Dr Octagon - Aliens: A gem. Dope song.

I listen to a lot of “classic” dubstep ( the deep, dark stuff ), and I can recommend a few songs for ya. None of them really have, uh, lyrics, but I suppose they’ve got great vibe and perhaps you’ll be interested. I’ll keep adding examples as I find them.
