how about a personal toplist?

http://lightsover.blogspot.com

I love that blog, it’s not just a carbon copy of a load of others pushing the same tunes… I like the fact that it’s got the Canadian theme…

Oh and i’m rocking the latest mix still in the car Chris, just like the last one it keeps my attention all the way through… Taken it as inspiration to do longer mixes for my podcast… First one won’t be as diverse as yours as i’m getting used to my APC40 but it’s a start!

Cheers

^hey thanks for the support S4racen, I’m stoked you’re enjoying the blog and mixes.

I’ll share a tip with you that helps me with the planning process for mixes that are a bit longer. I’ve been a party goer for a long time (much longer than I’ve been a dj) and I noticed that the sets I always enjoyed most had a cinematic quality to them and that’s because they were structured in a way that told a story.

So when you’re putting your set together, try to build the energies in a way similar to that of a story/plot structure. When you follow this rule it really helps in creating a nice flow of energy that keeps the listener engaged but doesn’t tire them out.

  1. An initiating event : Either an idea or an action that sets further events in motion.

  2. An internal response : The protagonist’s inner reaction to the initiating event, in which the protagonist sets a goal or attempts to solve a problem.

  3. An attempt : The protagonist’s efforts to achieve the goal or alleviate the problem. Several attempts, some failed, may be in an episode.

  4. An outcome : The success or failure of the protagonist’s attempts.

  5. A resolution : An action or state of affairs that evolves from the protagonist’s success or failure to achieve the goal or alleviate the problem.

  6. A reaction : An idea, an emotion, or a further event that expresses the protagonist’s feelings about the success or failure of goal attainment/problem resolution or that relates the events in the story to some broader set of concerns.

if you guys are interested .. i could setup an aggregator for blogs that publish music tracks .. just like i did for blogs talking about hardware/software related to digital djing (see the link in my sig)

I’m partial to http://www.noiseporn.com

anyone know any good minimal blogs?

Hell yeah! +1

anyone know of any more good electro/“blog-house” blogs???

the three i posted above are fantastic! trashmenagerie is a little more varied, but has mainly electro-house stuff (and its not just purely music links, there is a lot of good info and some cool interviews etc). sundtrak has pretty much exclusively electro-house music links. heatmydeck has a pretty good variety, too. on hmd, check out the “juicy mixes” - they are mixtapes, not actual DJ mixes, and contain some awesome, and sometimes rare/hard-to-find, remixes!

my favourite electro blog.
