New to Ableton Live

New to Ableton Live

Hey guys!

DeLorian here, I’m sure this has been posted a thousand trillion times, but the forum isn’t the easiest thing to navigate through.

I’m new to Ableton Live. I’ve owned the program for about 2 months now and I’ve yet to fully get into it.

I guess my main goal is to take all of my already recorded and finished songs, and make a live show similar to the likes of Justice and Daft Punk (I’m sure you guys hate this question).

I was wondering what the best way to go about this is. Again I have no experience in the Ableton program, all my productions are done in Renoise and Logic.

Please help out as best you can, send me links, videos, the whole 9 yards.

What I do need: Assistance, guidance, and ideas
What I don’t need: Negativity, snide remarks, and helplessness

Thanks in advance!

Guess not!

Thanks for the help guys..

go to www.aldj.com

It’s a forum by Ableton Dj’s (and producers) for Ableton Dj’s (and producers).

I learnt a lot over there, and it’s a good community, as apposed to the official Ableton forum which can get a bit flamey sometimes.

Another invaluable resoure, is Youtube. You can also search out Tom Cosm for his straightforward tutorials and forum.

Ableton is differnt to a lot of DAW’s out there, so it is probably best to go in with a ‘blank’ mind. You’ll fnd the more you play with it, the more you’ll learn.

Is there something specific I can help with ?

is the address. No idea why I put the other one

I’ll check it out right now! Thanks a bunch brotha!

For the track creation process’s its mostly just diving in and keeping with a track till the end.
One trick i like to do specially when trying a new style or genre: I take one track like from another artist and load it up in my DAW and then go through and mark the places of significance (i.e. breaks, builds, transitions, etc..) and then use that as kind of a outline for the track itself.

For tutorials: Tom Cosm + Mr. Bill are some of the best! (not to mention very inspiring to watch!)

As for live sets… you’re gunna want to watch this-

hope it helps! good luck and have fun
