Although I’ve been following DJTT forums for a couple of weeks now, this is my first post.
I want to learn DJing. I try to dig into the forums as hard as I can and I’ve been watching tutorial videos for a while now. But these are all useless without practice, so I decided to buy a controller to have the sense of it.
As you can imagine I will be a bedroom dj for starters and do this as a hobby.
I narrowed down my list to Numark Mixtrack Pro and Kontrol S2, obviously my budget is around 400-500€.
So which one would you prefer, considering S2 is on sale nowadays.
I have a pretty powerful laptop so running the software won’t be an issue, headphones and speakers are also out of question for now.
Looking forward to have a good time here in DJTT forums.
Your help is much appreciated. Thanks!
To start out the S2 would be perfect. You could use earbuds if you have them to get by till you can afford headphones, or get a cheap pair of headphones till you can afford better ones. You can also just use the headphones without speakers to learn alot. You just won’t be able to cue a track while another is playing. If you have computer speakers or a home stereo, you can use those.
yeah the S2 is on sale so id say thats your ticket. I started out with a mixtrack, and it got me pretty used to digital dj’ing but I moved up to an S4 after 1 year and a half and it was insane. S2 all ze way
def agree about the s2. no speakers or headphones tho?
could easily buy a cheap set of headphones and speakers (logitech type ones??) with all the money u’re gonna save buying the s2 on special
Thanks a lot.
S2 it is then.
I have a 5+1 gaming speaker system and I’m searching for decent headphones at the moment. They should be enough I think.
Thanks again!
Yeah…that’s probably fine. Just make sure that if it does some DSP to turn a stereo signal into a 5.1 signal that it happens quick enough that you can still hear what you’re doing or you’ll never learn to mix.
It’s weird, but in my experience, the cheaper the better when it comes to computer 5.1 systems…you know, apart from the speakers being crap. But I also haven’t heard a good one.
