Next big thing in DJ’ing?

Haven’t been active on the forums in a while, but when I ran into this link I just had to share it. I really think this could be a game changer:

VDJ already has various touch screen apps, I bet this would work great with it.
my vote is on augmented virtual reality glasses and gloves that can touch the items in view, so you can get all minority report, it would be halarious to watch & make the users look like tards.
Also touch screens are inherintly risky in a live performance & not precise, they are not worth it in my opinion.
There are a plethora of touch screen DJ implementations on youtube, for example
and I don’t think it’s gonna be the next big thing. Both for the reasons syntheti1c provided and also for the lack of tactile feedback.
No real knobs, no real faders, no bueno.

Touch is definitely part of the future of DJing, but I don’t believe that’s in the form of completely touch interfaces. I think those will still be fairly niche until we’ve developed some pretty sophisticated haptic technologies. I think touch interfaces will be used commonly where there are areas of high modality and where precision isn’t as important. Effects interfaces naturally come to mind.
I think we’re also going to see a lot of “utility” controllers out in the next year or so. We’ve seen a ton of “all-in-one” controllers, and I think the market is pretty saturated with them. The next step is to spread out and try to cover very specific use cases. The Dicer is a great example of the KIND of controller I’m talking about here. I think we’re also going to see a few grabs for the next Technics 1200 replacement - in a whole lot of different forms.
The next big thing is DJ’ing… CDJ 3000
all a cdj 3000 will be is a 2000 with 4 extra knobs and 4 extra buttons for controlling effects and probably connect wirelessly to a laptop

there is lot more that can be done into this direction as these days most succesfull dj are producer anyway
agreed. Been using touch osc for a while now on iphone and ipad. Its fun to use around the house, but I like having tangible faders, knobs, and jobwheels.
I imagine some uses of touchscreens in the future to take over certain functions, but ill always want that third dimension, our hands and fingers are better optimized for twisting and grabbing than just touching.
Allen’s K2 made the first move in that direction for next year. I agree

you know what would be awesome…
a fully featured 4 deck controller with backlit buttons that have individual lcd screens installed behind so you can change what the button says to match the mapping, then anything would be possible as you wouldn’t need to remember the shifts and what buttons are associated with it. 'twould be awesome indeed
Hes has used a giant touch screen contrller at one of his shows, I think It was the emulator.
i remember seeing it somewhere, lol just wasnt super sure
