Novation Nocturn Encoders...

Novation Nocturn Encoders…

Hey Guys,

I’ve bought myself a novation nocturne, that I want to use for Beatgridding now instead of my nanocontrol2

and before I had 6 buttons to do beat jumps 8 16 an 32 steps forward and backwards…

but I want to do same with the encoders now but i can’t seem 2 find how to make this work…

the encoders like flips  with a normal sensitivity of 100 and acceleration of 0 in both modes direct or relative,

is it possible to make this work?

If so please let me know thnx in advance
Sincerly

Hi there,
You can combine this three commands in to one macro knob:

Size Selector
Mode Selector
Move

All three are located under Add In > Deck Common > Move

Let me know if I can help you more.

Hi and thnx I already use these commands for loops, I think,
I was just wondering how to setup an encoder on the nocturne 2 make it work with the “beat jump” function that I actually use to put cue points every 8 or 16 or 32 steps… instead of buttons on the org nanoKontrol I use 6 buttons with the beat jump functions those would be button setup like Button - hold - -8 +8 , -16 +16 , -32 +32 this works flawlessly but If I want to make the same function with an encoder it just flashes…
The sensitivity and acceleration settings would be???

Thnx again.

Check your “Mode Selector” command and make sure the value is set to “Beatjump”.

Hi Stewe doesn’t work at all I’ve tried different things

for now it’s set like this but it doesn’t work at all…

Size Selector: button direct value=8 assignment device target…
Mode Selector: button direct beat jump assignment device target…
Move: encoder relative 7Fh rotary sensitivity 100% rotary acceleration = 0%

lemme know what I’m doing wrong thnx (novation nocturn was the)

First thing that comes to my mind is the encoder mode. Have you tried to switch to 3Fh encoder setting?

Thnx 4 taking your time 2 help me Stewe
this is how it skips i changed it to 3Fh  but the same results, it kind of goes fast, and not smooth, it skips fast and at some point it blocks and doesn’t do anything…

Thanks for the vid mate. From the looks of it, looks like your encoders are set to absolute mode (0-127)… Is there some midi editor software available for your controller that you can use to change encoder in to relative mode?

yeah gonna check it might be with the automap app but don’t know what functions it should be :stuck_out_tongue:
it’s the below settings thnx  there’s 3 modes would I then have 2 change the settings back to 7Fh or 3fh?
Lemme know anyway I’ll read the rest tomorrow good night

The mode is currently set to “Step”. What are the other options when you click on that slot?

ah sorry Step was for buttons,

for encorders it’s normal/inverted and Increment/decrement…

it kind of works with the other option increment decrement  still checking thnx man (y)

Awesome!
