Numark Mixtrack II or Hercules DJ Air?
Im aware that these are very beginner pieces of equipment, but if you were given the choice between them whicdh would you decide?
The Mixtrack looks better in every way to me.

Hercules makes good gear but you easily grow away from it. I would say the mixtrack.
BTW do you mean the one with or without a soundcard?
I’d definitely say the Mixtrack, great piece of budget equipment. Though it is plasticky (the Air does have nice rubbery knobs), the Mixtrack is well known for it’s bang-for-buck factor.
To me, the Air’s “motion effects” are a silly addition meant for a toy. The pricing is similar though, so go for whichever makes you happy!
