So I’m probably just playing with the sensitivity way too low. I didn’t even think about that, I just attributed it to the low-resolution of MIDI. I was just worried that if I put the sensitivity too high, I would end up having to do too far of a revolution to make any significant noticeable effect when controlling quick pitch adjustments. I’ll play around and see what happens. Thanks for that.
You’re right…it’s all in the application settings. I can tell you off the bat the Mixtrack’s jog wheel performance is better in Virtual DJ than in Traktor.
Not to mention, in VDJ you can pitch bend (by moving the outside of jog) while in scratch mode like a Pioneer CDJ. On the Numark supplied Traktor mapping you can’t which makes it unintuitive. You have to turn off scratch mode to pitch bend with the jog wheel.
As far as platter comparison to Vestax goes. I did a head to head with the Mixtrack and Typhoon/Spin. The jogs had about the same sensitivity but the Mixtrack’s wheels were bigger and thus more comfortable. The Vestax faders were a little smoother but at the end I went with the Mixtrack and took the Typhoon back to the store.
Thanks for the info, coolout. After I mess around with the sensitivity on my VCI, if the results are not satisfactory, I’ll consider grabbing a Mixtrack as well. They look very nice, and so far I’ve heard mostly good things about them. It would be nice to have multiple controllers to give myself some flexibility and choice for future gigging.
Or even 4 Tracks to control if you map just right!
The thought did cross my mind. Use the sound card in the Mixtrack for output, and put that on decks 1 and 2, then keep the VCI for 3 and 4, do mad cue juggling and samples with three and 4 while using 1 and 2 for main mixing.
You know. Or something. Me and my delusions of grandeur.
I like the S4, but it’s too expensive considering I spent half that amount already on my VCI, so adding in some more features for much less money really couldn’t hurt. 
Speaking of which, anyone with the Mixtrack Pro got word on the sound card’s quality and flexibility yet?
Haven’t heard anything on the MTP soundcard yet, but I am assuming it would be better than the DJ I/O that Numark makes, but that’s all heresay.
Even the Numark website doesn’t give any decent info on the soundcard, althoguh they did put up VERY MINIMUM specs of the DJ I/O

Since Cashen never came back to post his 4-deck mapping, I took it apon myself to make one. It’s a modified version of the original TSI, fixing the tick/view reversal and replacing a few functions. I didn’t include cue/juggle mode since I use my Korg Nanokey to do all of that. Go ahead and modify it further to fit your needs. It shoulod be a good starting spot for most of you. All features are descibed and pictured below. Its posted in the Mappings forum but here is the link to get you there faster. Enjoy!
Keylock Buttons (Deck Mode):
I always leave my tracks keylocked… no need for the buttons. Keylock A will now change all deck specific controls on that side to deck C. Global controls (ex. FX controls, Master Volume, etc.) will all go untouched. Keylock B will do the same for the right side only switching to deck D. All LEDs should function as well. Yes, the mixer functions are considered deck specific and switch as well.
Tempo Sliders (Filter):
I sync to the master tempo and never have a reason to touch the tempo sliders. So they are now the Filters for each deck. The center LED will light signaling you are at 0%. (Filters are deck specific and effected by Deck Mode)
Pitch Bend Buttons (FX Select):
Who uses pitch bend buttons when you have platters? Not me. So now they are deck specific FX select buttons. Pitch down (-) toggles FX 1, and Pitch up (+) toggles FX 2. (Also effected by Deck Mode)
Cue Mix (Master Tempo):
I just listen to the normal cue feed in the headphones and the main mix through the main monitors. No need for the Cue Mix option, so it’s now the master tempo. Turning up goes fast, turning down goes slow… Easy.
