Numark NDX400 - Thoughts and Experiences?

So, I’m looking at these.

I have 1200’s, SL1, and a decent mixer. But the thing I don’t have? Any experience using CDJ’s beyond just messing about on them a couple of times.

I don’t really have the cash to drop on Pioneer CDJ’s (and don’t want the 200’s). When I was initially going to be buying gear, I almost went with the CDJ-400’s. And at this point, I can’t afford to. I know what CDJ’s are considered the best, and it’s just not in my budget at the moment. And honestly, I really enjoy using the 1200’s and most times I won’t have an issue being able to use them.

I just need something to familiarize myself with using basic CDJ’s. Maybe play around with thumb drives a bit, but basically just get used to the transport controls.

At $172 each, or thereabouts, these are stupid affordable at the moment. And it’s made me think twice about picking them up.

I’ve talked to friends about renting CDJ’s once and awhile or so (because we all either have turntables, or midi controllers) but I really just don’t feel like that’s an effective use of money. It’d be neat, but it really isn’t cost effective.

Anyone have any bad experiences with the NDX400’s? Good? Think it’d get the job of learning CDJ’s pretty easily?

I’ll probably try messing about with them with the time-code CD’s that come with Serato, as that is my weapon of choice. But it’d be nice to be able to walk into a club and know how to use a CDJ effectively rather than just looking at them and wondering really. When I learn something, I need more than just a couple hours to really get good with it.

Worth the basically $300?

cdjs 400’s for $300?
Thats about £200 UK cash

Thats cheaper than ive EVER seen em, if i wasnt set on getting 2ks again id be all over that.

serato with CDJs is ok, its good for cue points and FX, thats about it, but im sure the 400s have HID which means you can use serato flawlesly with em

EDIT: didnt read properly that you were on about NDX’s.
Theyre decent players, i dunno the price of em over here but $300 is still really cheap, and all cdjs all function the same really (apart from the technics ones) so once you learn on the NDXs you can jump onto pioneers no bother.

But seriously theres nothing to CDJs at all, set em on vinyl mode and you litterally have a non spinning 1210 with bpm readouts

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been told and have figured. Just need to get some experience with em is all really.

Something you can buy used, use em for a few months and can punt again for the exact same price, pretty much only pioneers you can do that with, get you and your buddies to put spome cash into it and you can get a set of 800mk2’s for about $500 used, probably cheaper on cl, and youll be able to get rid of em again for the same price.

The NDXs are good and cheap but it wont be easy to get rid of em, youd lose a lot on them, so maybe renting could be a cheaper option.
