Omni control buzzing

Omni control buzzing

Just bought it and there’s buzzing in one channel - the speaker is next to a light but this shouldn’t really be happening. I’ve seen it mentioned elsewhere as a problem, should I return it straight away or is this just a standard problem on these things?

Is it a constant buzz? If you move it away from the lightbulb or turn it off does it stop? Is your phone anywhere near it? Check all of your connections and make sure they’re good.

I use it and I have never encountered that problem. Something wrong with your cables or the monitors I presume.

I use one as well, and the only thing I can think of is check the mic volume, I have noticed that if the mic volume is up there might be some of that buzzing noise. Other than that check all connections.
Don’t forget to check if there is a power wire rapped around one of the rca’s.
I hope that helps.

Thanks for all the ideas.. yeah it’s probably an earthing thing cos moving the light seems to reduce it.

The odd thing is that I never had the problem with my other soundcard - M-Audio Ultra 8… maybe cos it has balanced outputs? I’ve been going from balanced out stereo jack → XLR → Tannoy actives. – Now I’m having to use a 1/4"->phono adaptor to plug the Omni in.

Well, glad to hear no-one else is having the problem, fingers X’d there will be no buzz on my 1st DJ gig with this unit! Maybe I can try it in my home-stereo but somehow its never the same as what happens when you plug into a PA! :stuck_out_tongue:

Adapters? I always try to avoid adapters, if you need a special adapter, try to find the right cable for that application.

And alway test the setup before doing anything, the last thing you need is to get there set it all up and it all goes to the crapper… you know what I mean.

Using the adaptors just cos otherwise I have to re-rig my whole speaker setup… using it mostly for DAW applications with the other soundcard. Yep, will test Omni on stereo next door!

Used to have mad buzz problems with this laptop b4 I changed it’s power adaptor, only problem was they would never show up at home, only in a rehearsal studio’s PA!
