Lol, hadn’t seen that before. Sadly true, skrillex kinda ruined the genre of dubstep that was once good (scream, benga, distance, ect..).

i demand no more blaming skrillex for anything in this forum! he´s a gifted producer and he defo deserves hype (even if don´t really like most of his tunes)

Pretty much this. I don’t like “Brostep”, but in all honesty, the fanbase is what irks me the most about it. It’s all this macho bullshit “melt your face off”-style from hormone riddled teenagers.

This whole ‘dubstep has gone bad’ thing is just the same as any other genre that teens get hooked on.
Im pretty sure the same thing was said by people who were into Iron Maiden and Motorhead when stupid hairspray rock bands like Motley Crue came out and all the kids went METAL.
Same thing was said about Indie music in the UK when bands like the Stone Roses and The Smiths disappeared. Ive got mates that call other indie fans “plastic indie fans” cus they are into bands like The Killers and Kings Of Leon claiming its not “proper indie”.
aaaaaand just like my old mates that cant stand new house music cus its too commercial.
Music get absorbed by the mainstream and everyone starts to panic.
Seems to me that Skrillex is becoming a victim of his own success like many many other artists have been before him.

Probably, the earlier picture with the Aphex Twin Facebook post more or less suggests that poor old Skrillex is ‘locked in’ into what he’s doing now, he’s going to have difficulties “branching out” musically without completely losing his fanbase, which I guess is why a lot of his music sounds kinda samey.

But seriously, I just can’t stand “Brostep”. Too much mid-range/high frequency attack that it sounds like a car alarm. Not only that but every teenager cruising past me in the parking lot at my college is blasting some Skrillex “BLEEP GLORP, THWAP THWAP BLLUUUURRRRFFZZZ!”
And I get a hundred requests at house parties to “pLiZaY sUmZ sKrIlLeX DuDeZoRs!”
And now it’s invading advertising/commercials, See the ad for “Red Tails”? Or “Transformers”? I think Britney Spears new album is produced by Skrillex or some crap too. (Not that it matters cause she sucks anyways).
