Out Of Print Records. Anyone have any collectibles? How much did you pay for them? Has price gone up or down at all? I’ve been searching for (Don’t hate on this) “Demon Days” by the Gorillaz. Turns out it is OOP but I found it for $165. Might pick it up, still unsure.
I’ve bought quite a few old records from eBay and Discogs (pre '94 oldskool, rave, hardcore, house, hip house …)
A few friends trawl thro the charity and 2nd hand shops, looking for rare stuff but I think they get sorted n cherry picked by collectors/dealers before they reach the shop floor in my area.
My collection is defo worth more than I paid for them now but I tend to buy collections and job lots so I’ve also picked up a few duplicates of the more popular releases which aren’t worth a great deal. Prices dropped quite heavily at one point, when Technics were dirt cheap and everyone I was buying off said they were going digital, but now like Technics prices the records have gone back up again.
Doesn’t look like any1 is selling the collectors box on Discogs atm, to give you an idea of value http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gorillaz
There’s at least 1 on eBay atm tho
Hey thanks for the info. Checked discogs before but $200 is a bit pricey. Currently bidding for one on ebay, 6 days left but i’ll probably win it. If I don’t there’s one up there with a buy now for $150. I called some local places and no luck at all so this is my only shot. I’m starting a “small” (For the time being) vinyl collection, and that record is a classic.
Scratch that: I retracted my bid and bought the copy for $150! Hasn’t been played and the cover/sleeve is in mint condition.
Wow, I’ve got a copy of Demon Days and had no idea it had any value.
One of my most collectible LP’s is a UK press of Do You Love Me by The Contours. It’s worth about $500 I believe. I’ve been buying records for decades now, since the mid 80s at least.
