Do the Tiesto and rip off one of their CDs with an unreleased track and play it during opening

Supposedly tiesto got their remix of Satisfaction and was gonna play it before them but they managed to preempt him.

On topic, damn dude that is an awesome opportunity.

congrats man! hope they still play sweeter than fever! it´s one off my all time favs.

Hell yeah. Dada Life always seems to find their way into my sets.
I just got some good news myself, I’m opening up for TADT on friday!!! YAY!!!
Not quite as big as Dada Life but i’m hyped.

Sort of same situation for me man. Just found work that I will have an opening set for Wolfgang Gartner. Stoked!

I don’t know dadalife..but gah damnnn wolfgang?..dam I’m jealous..one of my favs…but big up to all of you doing big things!

It’s crazy that a year ago you didn’t even know the basics of Djing, now ur opening up for superstar djs. Good luck bro

congrats sir!

grats m8 hope it all goes well for you

thanks guys! i’ll post vids and pics after the event!!

So do you guys mind sharing at all maybe what it was like going From Just learning on VCI a year ago to how you got to be now.

I’ve been playing on a VCI 100 for a bout a couple months now and just Got two TT’s and Control Vinyl/Audio 8 For timecode with my VCI. I can beatmatch and throw together a fuckin sick set. I’m getting into a little bit of scratching as well now.

So how did you guys manage to land these Opening spots for such high up people.?? Do you produce as well ? How did they find out about you ? A fellow DJTT’er ?

I’m thinking of pitching an idea to the local Hookah bar to have me come in a play a saturday night just so the owner can see how a professional DJ can bring the atmosphere up and attract people. Then eventually ask to make it a residency thing and get paid if he likes it

Dada Life, that’s great. Good luck and snap some great pics!

I’ll give you a brief history my dj career to date

Started out mixing / producing about 5 years ago in garage band and have always been heavily into house music.

I got a VCI-100 and started mixing with it in October or November of 2008. I quickly began being able to throw sets together and had my first gig in february of 2009. I had a string of about 10 gigs where shit went wrong every show, basically because I jumped into it wayyy to early and I did not even know how to set up with a mixer etc etc.

Throughout summer of 09 I really practiced and ended up buying CDJ-400’s, A xone 32 Mixer and scratch live.

I started gaining some respect after doing well at a number of clubs in toronto. I then got a chance to spin at a pretty well known electro club if not one of the biggest electro clubs in toronto.. The Social. The Social is notorious for hosting everyone from MSTRKRFT, Felix Cartel, Beetroots etc

me and my bud (who I spin with) absolutely murdered the social that night, they offered us a 3 week residency or contract. We have now have extended that residency for the summer.

I think obtaining this residency has been the best part of my dj career to date. I get to spin whatever music I choose, I’m treated well and paid well too.

Also I am meeting a number of producer’s and dj’s including John Roman who was spinning at the social last night.

So basically my two cents even though I am fairly new is that you should network a shit load. Go out to all events. Don’t be annoying but let people know that you can spin. If your brand new you have to be able to bring a crowd out, get all your friends to come out and support you that will be your biggest advantage. The reason why I have kept this residency is because I keep the crowd entertained but my name on the event Flyer brings out a regular crowd regardless what is going on in the city that night.

Thanks again for all your support with this DADA LIFE gig. I really stoked, has not really sunk it yet but I know if I kill it… this could mean some bigger and better things!

Sorry for my retarded grammer and or spelling I am tired as fuck as I was out till late lastnight watching John Roman murder the dance floor !

hope this helps!

I’m from Toronto. Whats your stage name?
I’m more into the dnb scene, then house/electro but do come out to some events.
Cheers

thats awesome man, im from TO as well and right now im where you were 5 years ago, started producing with Garage band and am just about to buy my first controller :stuck_out_tongue: Just out of curiosity, and i guess for future reference when i get to that point, how did you get your first few gigs and then end up at the Social anyway? When is this gig and where might i ask as well? i’d like to check it out.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Dada Life, go find Love Vibrations (Phatzoo dub mix) that is a killer, killer track
