opinion needed about gear changing

im looking at getting rid of my VMS4, and just going with an interface, mixer, and Midi-fighter. my reasoning, is that being a college student that travels from MD to FL, for the holidays, it is pretty awkward to put on the plane.

does anyone think this is a good idea?

That could be good, but have you considered the xone k2? I am going travelling soon and am considering this as an all in one mixing solution. with a soundcard, four faders and a whole bunch of knobs and buttons it looks like the perfect on the go solution to me.
