optical 3d ‘finger’ mouse - controller possibilities?

slip it your finger, and use it like a mouse - x/y ‘air’ pad for effects?
Its like a mouse thats strapped to your finger so you would still need a surface to use it on, so it wouldn’t work waving it around in the air.
Maybe on the wall behind the booth if you were into that sort of thing ?
