Does anyone know of any software that runs on OSX that gives similar functionality as the Windows Hardware Profile thing. I want to setup a profile that is tuned for live gigs. Furthermore, does anyone have any tips on tuning the Mac for best performance?
turning off wifi and bluetooth is much more important IMO…
i made myself an extra partition containing a stock leopard (10.5.6) which i’m using for djing only… i installed as few as possible (namely traktor, itch and automap) and stored my tracks on this partition… turned off wifi, bluetooth and that’s it!
if you do make your own dj-partition you could even disable spotlight permanently on this partition (i’m not 100% sure, but it should still work in your “normal” partition though)!
In Leopard (and Tiger as well probably) go into System Preferences | Accounts. Select your Login account and then hit Login Items. Give that a nice spring cleaning. You can’t just un-tick them. You’ve got to select the item and then hit the little minus button.
I’ve just moved over to OS X and have been finding plenty of tweaks to get the most out of this system.
Gotta say, I really do miss RegEdit and msconfig tho
Glad to return the favour mate, youve helped me enuff with the VCI.
I run Mac Janitor each day and just before each gig and its helped keep things running smooth.
Tomorrow day.
My sister is just about to give birth so i will be an Uncle for the first time this time tomorrow so i will be getting SMASHED OUT OF MY TINY MIND.
