Fuck me, played at a club in my town that i used to go to as a teen.
What a medieval setup… Still, i managed to get the S4 in and smashed it.
They told me i was allowed to have 2 alcoholic drinks… YEAH RIGHT. Got a but piddly.
Also wanted me to write down all the tunes i played cus all DJs (3 floors) submit there playlists so they can be vetted.
I said i aint writting shit down, ill be too busy doing that thing that DJs do, ya know DJING… i said id email it tomorrow.
How will you remember what you played i was asked???

Yeah the club has a ‘Head Of Music’ in fact they have 2 clubs and both heads of music forward the playlists of all the DJs from the clubs to someone who looks through the playlist to see if they are sticking to the music policy of that particular floor on any given nite.
Ive no issues with criticism, keeps us all on top of our game but just what the hell are they paying the DJ for.
Funny thing is, im a very established DJ in the shithole City i live in. Ive had residences at the biggest clubs and the club i was at last nite actually paid me to be a consultant and install a Traktor system so they know my rep and that i can do the job. I wouldnt mind but the dancefloor was tiny. I absolutely smashed it last nite so when they look at the playlist they will probably tell their regular DJ to use it. I know that sounds big-headed but Top40 stuff is a piece of piss and they doubt their DJs so much, its a farce.
Anyway, i got paid, i got drunk and i got a pizza… happy days
Sounds to me like this “head of music” just wants to be able to find the name of a track that he heard on saturday night, when he sobers up on monday morning.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could all do that… Imagine if a DJ that you listened to all night gave you a list of the tracks that he’d just played? That one track 47 minutes into the set would just be a google away from being in your library!
Nah this head of music guy is a really really cool guy. Hes a mate and a nice bloke.
Although his predecessor, now he was a jerk.
I was actually banned from the Club for 6 months for asking the guy “what the fuck do you know about music you goth prick”
He told one of the DJs that she shouldnt play “ghetto music”. SHe was doing a Top40 R&B/Dance/Pop floor and playing Pitbull… wtf…
