[OT] I remember when

[OT] I remember when

  • I remember when I DJ’ed on Gemini XBL-10 turntables, a Gemini Mixer and an Aiwa Boombox

  • I remember when I went to the Palladium in NYC as a 16 year old.

  • I remember when Kris Kross made you jump

  • I remember buying a Roland R8 Drum Machine

  • I remember buying a Protools TDM System running on a G3 Mac

  • I remember taking a stack of about 100 records at dancetracks / satellite / 8 ball record nyc and finding 4 gems

  • I remember carrying my record boxes through the snow on the lower east side.

  • I remember hearing Lil Louis French Kiss in the car with my parents and feeling uncomfortable.

  • I remember 28.8 internet being fast.

  • I remember DJing the backroom for Little Louie Vega

  • I remember dreaming of a day where my turntables could work with my computer (best thing ever)

What do you remember?

^^ lol ^^ yes!

  • I remember the first time I played Xenon II on the Amiga 500 – Bomb the Bass’ Megablast was the soundtrack, like REAL music on a computer game.
  • I remember hearing Together’s “Hardcore Uproar” and thinking, “Pianos just don’t get any better than this”
  • I remember borrowing a Skid Row CD from a my friend only to find out the last guy who borrowed it accidently put Leftism in the case- Song for Life: changed mine forever.
  • I remember getting that pair of Soundlab DLP3’s and my friends telling me that as soon as I learned to mix I would be needing to ditch them – I got my 1210s 3 months later.
  • I remember moving to Hamburg and my German girlfriend telling me to only bring what I really needed. She didn’t view several hundred pieces of vinyl as vital – unlike her, they are still around
  • I remember not Djing for anyone famous and loving it.
  • I remember someone coming up to me in a club after my set and saying, “Hey, that set you just played? That was SHIT mate’
  • I remember selling my 1210’s in 2007, at a point where I truly thought mixing and I were long gone - One of the bigger mistakes in my life.
  • I remember giving my friend’s kid brother 50 records to get started with when he was 15 and determined to be a “top DJ” – he just recently did a set alongside Roger Sanchez at MoS and has a string of releases under his belt
  • I remember seeing the S4 – it was love at first site. All I could say was WWWWAAAAANNNNNTTTTT!
  • I remember joining this forum and loving every minute.
  • I remember I used to be a woman named Sarah.

So true man, some of those records bring amazing memories

Best feeling ever!

Did you have big jugs?

  • What do you mean “did” ?

Excellent!

You can touch 'em for a dollar.

If I give you two can I motorboat them?

How did we go from fond memories to jug fondling in less than 5 posts?

Well, I guess because jugs are so much fun to talk about (says immature dj).

Ok back on topic.

  • I remember when getting a ten inch meant vinyl.
  • I remember producing a track and recording to DAT
  • I remember recording vocals to 2 inch tape to make them sound fatter.
  • I remember boom boxes and cardboard breakdancing mats.
