I need to figure out a way to make some extra money on the side. I’m a full time college student living in the dorms, and there happens to be absolutely zero jobs on or around campus that haven’t already been filled.
I got by before while I was between jobs by selling some old guitar stuff on craigslist, but I’m 250 miles from my house, so I really have nothing to sell.
I’m looking for legimate, fairly simple ways to make money. I don’t need “livable” income, if I could make an extra $5 or $10 every now and then, I’d be in much better shape than I am now.
I thought about writing from blogs or doing some kind of freelance writing, but I don’t know.
i’m in the same position. look for call centers in your area. thats really easy work. the ones i used to work at let me do my homework there.
deal drugs.
on campus job? i tried that but the pay was way too low and so were the hours.
club/bar photography? my g/f does this and gets paid a buttload and gets free drinks
Definitely the right market to be dealing drugs, its a shame I don’t have the money to make the initial investment. lol.
There really aren’t any jobs left on campus that I’m aware of, I worked at the college I went to previously, and the work was super easy, but the hours weren’t so hot. I think I typically worked less than 10 hours a week.
I’m still undecided. I took a lot of English courses in the past and I’ve always been good at writing when I want to (modesty aside) so I’ve been trying to see if there’s something I can do with that.
Man its right there or rather ‘write there’ (sorry).
Write.
Just do it. I dunno what college papers you have or local news just write shit and send it off. You just never know who might like what you have to say.
Ive done my fair share of reviews and music talk and i always figure the more you write the more you find to write about.
I want a DJTTs article on Eans desk by next wednesday !!!
Actually that would be wicked, get an article on here and youve got your first internet piece to show people.
Well, first start shopping yourself around to the frats and sororities on campus. If you can convince them to pick up sound rental for their parties you might have a gig lined up.
Second, look at work study programs, or see if you can get some part time work on campus. Usually pays almost nothing, but a job at the library or for the cafeteria or something could be a breeze.
Freelance work is hard as fuck to get, and even harder when you’re still a student. I got a degree in English lit and all, and while I was in school it was rough to even get looked at. Talk to professors, though, and see if they can point you in any directions. Unfortunately most options don’t pay.
Pfft, you should totes be able to get an ounce on tic from someone. there’s proper good money to be made in pot and that shits safe as houses. plus it’s slap on the wrist stuff when the 5-0 pick you up(!sarcasm!)
yeah and if you want to be even more broke paying legal fees and only being able to do in-state gigs for 5 years, sounds awesome -_-
please stay away from traffiking, it’s more serious than you think. trust me
on a positive note:
my first handful of gigs were frat parties. unpaid, but i made contacts with people that made me money. it’s an awesome environment to get booked for formals, which pay a good $400+.
If you’re a good writer then you could discretely find people who are willing to pay for you to write their term papers. Just try not to get expelled (:
When I was in Uni. I worked a variety of side jobs to fund my alcoholism. I did everything from working at the UIT department, to TA’ing / being a research assistant, to bar-tending and working at a coffee shop. The most enjoyable by far was the coffee shop, which was one of those small, independently owned ones. It was pretty laid back and a fun way to meet people as well, so I’ll have to suggest that. If you look hard enough I’m sure you can find something.
Have you got any IT skills? If so try odesk.com. The pay rates aren’t great, due to a lot of pretty skilled guys from india and russia offering their services for cheap, but you can definitely find some casual work that’ll earn you an extra bit here and there. Also, there’s even stuff as technical writing, testing and pulling data into excel sheets and the like, where you don’t need any programming skills or the like.
I checked out that odesk but check it they pay sometimes 0,75$ an HOUR. I mean, who with an internet connection does that? thats just plain stupid.
Maybe if your a good designer you could apply for some 500$ logo’s on there
