OT: video editing
hey
can anybody advise me on how i create a video like the ones Ean makes, with a screen capture and something else ‘layered’ into one video? i have my screen capture and a video recording but want them in one video.
preferably using iMovie 
and similarly how can i add writing over the top of the videos, once again a la ean?

that requires editing equipment such as FCP. its a simple way of scaling the media down to size (along with some cropping if necessary) and placing it where you want it. As for screen capture, you can go cheap by placing the camera on a tripod and positioning it towards your screen.
its best to record the audio separately when possible as your camera’s mic might but low end.
