NOt too long ago I went to the Deadmest show in STL (with Datsik and Aoki), and heard this while Datsik was playing:
Girl (dreamy voice): I wishh sooo much that this was Skrillex!!
Boyfriend (also in a dreamy voice): Just close your eyes and we can pretend that it is!
I didn’t know whether to laugh (because it’s true) or cry (because it’s true).
No thanks. Anyway the place has closed down now. Its a Chinese Karaoke Restaurant.
I went in there a few months ago with my old boss. I was very very drunk and we had a meal and more drinks. The bar till was in the place that the old DJ booth was. I told the guy taking the money about the dj booth about 5 times “I used to DJ here and the decks were here and the blah blah” until i realised that he did not give a crap and wasnt even listening to me.
I ruined a brand new shirt that night, spilled Chinese food all over it.
Oh. Another one of these threads. Never gets old reading/hearing people bash on producers simply because said producers are popular/not within the preferred genre of the person doing the bashing. And for the record, Skrillex has some tracks I enjoy, as do Datsik and Excision. That said, I’m not a raving fanboy of any of the above.
Honestly though, what the hell is the point of a discussion like this? “Hey, I don’t like Skrillex!” “Hey, me too!” proceed to fill up bandwagon All these discussions serve to do is provide a platform for a mass of people to jump down someone’s throat as soon as said person disagrees with the prevailing opinion. But, seeing as there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it aside from locking the thread; go on. Enjoy it and IBTL.
The comment was more directed at Ed Paris and Karlos, both of whom I would hope know better Not attacking you two either - you’re usually two of my favorite posters, but still; the whole bash-on-skrillex theme is akin to digging up the dead horse to beat it again.
