Panasonic toughbook

Anyone have experience with these? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Panasonic-ToughBook-CF-30-MK3-L9300-1-6Ghz-4GB-GPS-750GB-EMISSIVE-TOUCHSCREEN-/161023226713?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item257dbb7359&_uhb=1

That eBay auction seems like a good deal… I feel a bit like it is either that or a used MBP for me - around the same price. Only clear disadvantage is lack of backlit keys and a 13" screen only which is pretty gross for using Live with… Just wondering if anyone has actually used one.

That resolution is absolutely awful… don’t wast eyour money.

That thing’s a real POS in a giant case IMO.

Agreed with the last two posts. Not worth the cash

Good to know guys, might just opt for a 2nd hand MBP

If 900 dollars is your budget you can buy pretty much any computer you want… why aren’t you looking at Windows?

$900 will not get you a decent high end Windows laptop.

This comes with Windows Vista .. what

Seriously? What’s high end?

You’re kidding me. 900 dollars can buy you everything you need…

Everything you need =! High End

High end ultrabooks like the Thinkpad X1, Zenbook, Series 9 with decent storage capacity will run well over $1000

You don’t need an ultrabook. You pay a premium for size. It’s possible to get better hardware than most ultrabooks for $600. Actually, for everything you truly “need,” you can run Traktor and a DAW on a $400 pc.

That’s the point? You don’t need a high end machine, but you also cannot get the best laptops out there with a budget of $900.

I don’t know what point you’re trying to make. You brought up that 900 dollars can’t buy a high end machine out of nowhere…

High end is all relative anyways…

I wasn’t the one who brought up the 900 dollars. That was you.

I said it could buy anything he wanted. Of course it can’t buy something that costs more than 900 dollars…

I never said anything about high end.

That makes no sense whatsoever. If someone could have any computer they wanted, they would almost always choose something that costs more than $900.

Please be reasonable. Any computer you want implies there’s a huge selection, that it’s not limited to a MBP or Toughbook. It’s obvious that if you have 900 dollars that you can’t get a computer that costs more than 900 dollars.

Unless you are DJ’ing in Afghanistan buy a Second Hand or Refurbished Macbook Pro.

The Toughbooks are quite amazing machines if you need something that will (genuinely) take a bullet or survive a 100ft drops, but I honestly dont think most clubs patrons are that bad, or have dj boxes that high to warrant getting one.

Technically there IS actually one legit reason for using a Toughbook, and that’s that they’re waterproof  No spilt drink mishaps

Although, the same thing DOES apply to IBM ThinkPads as well:
