Pattern adjusting and sequencer mode not affecting certain remix sets…

First of all, I think that the Twister is phenomenal. As a DJ who has always wanted to make beats and tracks, but never took the time to really learn production, this is proving to be an awesome addition to my musical life.

I have an issue I am experiencing though, and bear with me as I am relatively new to these types of instruments.

So, I have various .trak remix sets loaded into Traktor. I am using the Traktor Remix deck mapping supplied by DJtechtools. Right now Ean’s Sequencer Drum Kit remix set is the only one that allows me to utilize the “Adjust encoder 5 (1,3) to choose a pattern for the kick.” or the 16 step sequencer mode and seems to be working perfectly.

The problem is that I have tested probably 15 other .trak remix sets with the Twister, and they all function properly except that all pattern adjusting in Row 3 does not change the pattern at all. Also entering the 16 step sequencer mode and making adjustments there also does not affect the pattern.

Again, this seems to be working perfectly on Ean’s Sequencer Drum Kit, but not for any other remix set.

Is there some sort of beat grid adjustments I need to do or is Ean’s Kit technically different in some way?

Any insight would be appreciated.

It could be that some samples are set to loop rather that one shot. It could also be the trigger type (latch / gate).

Could you have a look at the problem samples / remix sets and check if this could be the cause?

Hey Mike, I apologize for the delay in response. I’ve tested out a few of the Native Instruments remix sets. These remix sets aren’t very suitable for use with the Twister. The reason for this is they’re full loops. So instead of creating new patterns from single hits, it’s sequencing loops which creates a bit of a sonic mess. If you wish to use these remix sets you’ll need to set the cells to one shots instead of loops and you’ll need to set the trigger type to gate. The Twister is best used with single samples and drums similar to what’s included with the Sequencer mapping. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know.
