Pattern Lessons for Drum Machines (Maschine)

Pattern Lessons for Drum Machines (Maschine)

Hey I was wondering if anyone could point me to some rhythm or pattern lessons that I could apply to Maschine. I’m loving the idea of taking Maschine along with my new S4 to gigs to make my own drum patterns on the fly. Thing is i’m just getting into it and can only stick to the basic, kick-snare patterns.

Here’s one for starters:

The best thing I can recommend is loading up a full drum kit, and playing along with your favorite tracks, piece by piece. Just the kick pattern. Then just the snare/HH/etc.

Then try to play all of them at the same time. Once you get good, you should be able to do full on finger drumming… kick, snare, 16th high hat.

Good luck!

Ya I checked out that vid, pretty decent. I suppose it’s like anything just practice practice practice.

Bingo, bingo, bingo.

Edit: If you have a phone that can play Tap, Tap Revenge or Rock Band that could be a fun way to practice rhythm.

Here’s a little older one with the same basic lessons

I had this idea a while ago, due to not having a Maschine I haven’t tried it though. There is a midi adapter (available soon) for Rock Band 3 used for keyboards and electronic drum kits, you should be able to use the Maschine in place of the drums. Rock Band 3 has pretty good drum lessons and I figure it’d be a good way to practice.
