People watching me.

People watching me.

Right so ive been doing a few home gigs lately, and bought a laptop which is running my traktor LE ( poor person) into my audio 4 + into my decks, you all know the shit.

BUT

i now have a redundant computer in my garage (where the gigs are played) and was wondering if i could set a webcam up to it permanantly so people can watch on the tv above me what im doing.

anyone know softwares etc
thanks in advance, cook <3

Just setup a video out to the tv, with the webcam by you.

Or if you have an extra computer just hook it up to the tv and stream from stikam

how can i make a video out with a USB webcam?
my webcam is going into my computer and out to the tv
im needing a program which basicaly takes what im doing on the cam and streams it straight to my tv.

can’t you just load the webcam software and leave it running on the screen. the ms lifecam software just outputted what the cam saw whether it was recording or not

Are you using 2 computers or 1?

The computer in garage + the laptop correct?

Cam didnt come with any software mate.

im using two computer, one for DJing and one connected to the tv

just use stikam then

plug the camera into the laptop. Setup a stikam account and record what you are doing.

Hook the computer up to the tv and browse to your stikam address and make fullscreen.

Or..just run some sort of desktop sharing program if you want to share whats on the screen.

dont have internet out there mate

that’s arse… what make is it?

Trust.

well the desktop is going to have to be on a network somehow, otherwise theres no way, unless you just get a super duper usb extender and hook the camera up to the desktop and run it all the way to your set

if the TV upstairs doesnt have any type of equipment to receive a signal (slingbox, pc w/ vid out to tv, etc) then you can’t go “from usb webcam to tv.”

you could get a cheap vid card in the tv downstairs that has a coaxial output, then run the coaxial out the back all the way up to the tv. it would be a manner of outputting whatever stream is coming from your pc to the tv… something like this:

but even then, that’s just what the pc is displaying, not necessarily what the webcam is recording.

x10 has some nice cameras that have rca outs that a tv could then receive

but uh, just tell em to come downstairs and jam instead? :stuck_out_tongue:

youve confused me now? from where im standing right now the desktop is just to the left, with the hdmi running up about a metre to the tv mounted on the wall, and the webcam is sitting on top of the laptop directly in front of my shining down onto the TT’s, the webcam is connected to the desktop via USB, all i want is to bump up a program, so the cam see’s everything i do and projects it onto the tv (computer monitor)

did a search on cnet;
http://download.cnet.com/windows/webcam-software/

you mean just in the garage?

everything is in the garage, the tv is the monitor for the desktop

like the folk on the “dancefloor” can look up and see what im doing

i mean the people watching are in the garage? trying to work out why people are talking about streaming over the net, when there are programs that can do this on the local system easy enough

THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WANTING! a program to go webcam feed → computer → monitor

check out my link, long list of progs in there that can help with this (well not all of them), just set the filter to ‘free license’
