Pete tong’s equipment at that huge MKB SHM show

for some reason this picture made me extremely happy. i would REALLY like to see how he uses traktor

and then the following fb comments made me

“not one turntable of at least a cdj in sight. Laptop mixing is so cheating it keeps everything in beat for DJ’s. whats happened!”

“Ableton Live! Pre mixed sets! And Tong has the cheek to hold his hands up to get acknowledgement from the crowd! :disappointed:

Similar setup to Richie Hawtin and Dubfire. They do some really technical 3/4 deck mixing with lots of samples and loops. Sync just keeps things organized and prevents mess-ups…too bad all the haters will be stuck in their room writing youtube comments while the big guys rock out crowds of 20,000 +

whats that orange thing on his laptop screen?

Orange = spotlight colour.

Setup of Tong: at least 2 limited/custom edition Kontrol X1s plus 1 Kontrol F1.

It would be a safe bet to say that he uses two Kontrol X1s to control 2 ‘regular’ decks and two Kontrol F1s to control 2 sample decks.

A better view of the gear.

Thanks what I thought, but it looks like more than a reflection. Just noticed he’s using the same POS laptop stand I have.. wonder why

The white X1s were actually a gift from Ali

Ali is great like that!

That must be a serious rush to play for that many people! Amazing.

You can’t go wrong with Pete Tong… wait a moment oh yes you can its Cockney slang for WRONG!

Unfotunately I’ve met him hes a complete tosser in the late 90’s at a rave in Wales, then I bumped into him again in the Ministry Of Shite in London Town… so I’m a real hater.

Most likely…i actually really like that setup. But i feel like its out of my price range when i factor in purchasing a mixer.

Why would he use 2 X1’s to control 2 decks , you can do that off one or does he have them midi mapped for full control with out using shift .

He doesn’t want to use shift, which I can only imagine.
(I want to keep the use of shifted buttons as far away as possible.)

Could be using the shift layer for effects?

Thats what I was meaning have all the controls on 1 page , was thinking about doing this myself

i read something somewhere that he use’s the db4 mixer. He doesn’t use maschine though :disappointed:

Pretty sure he does pics of it here

Needs some white chroma caps on those x1’s!

i’d like some unpainted brushed aluminium x1’s
