Pioneer DDJ-T1

Pioneer DDJ-T1

Am considering this perhaps as a huge blowout! Is it any good? Seen this deal:

Though I’m between this and the much cheaper Twitch. Tried the S4 recently and didn’t really like it for some reason

Anyone got anything to say on the Pioneer unit?

I’m only a couple of hours in, & I haven’t powered it up to a pair of speakers yet. …but on first impressions, you’d love Twitch!!

I can’t emphasise enough how much I dislike the jogs on the T1. Nor can I sufficiently stress how excited I am about getting my twitch!

i dont know do you get traktor pro 2 with that t1 or just the pioneer version that wont be updated i guess?, s4 is like 700euros with licensed traktor pro 2 think about that..

As far as I’m aware you get ‘Traktor Pro Pioneer Edition’ which is a 4 deck version of the old Traktor Duo. But Bunford already has TP2 so I guess that doesn’t really matter.

A friend of mine has one of these and said that he got a free upgrade to Pioneer Edition v2 so not all is lost. He’s also VERY happy with the T1, granted he’s less controllerist and more of a CDJ guy, but still he’s very happy with his T1 and how it works and performs.

If you’re deciding between this and things like Twitch/S4, I’d say get the T1 if you’re used to using CDJ’s and want to keep that kind of feel with your DJ setup without going too crazy. Twitch and the S4 are more geared towards controllerists and that style of DJ’ing, so if that’s what you’re into then you’ll want to go this route instead of with the T1.

I’d say the NS6 is a much nicer 4 deck controller, and it has a built in analogue mixer and ITCH certification.

True, but I already have a licensed TP2 anyway.

I think I’ve decided to go for the Twitch. Just need to find somewhere in the UK with a coupon deal at the moment, even if it’s just to get a tiny bit of money off it!

What didn’t you like about the s4?

Not sure. I just didn’t “click” with it. Also, I prefer my jogs (not that I use them much) to be lower down below the majority of the buttons (similar to CDJs). But that’s just a case of aesthetics and getting used to it I suppose.

Not sure what it was though. Just didn’t seem to ‘fit’.

I was in the same boat as you, S4 or DDJT1, but i tried both and just liked the spacing better on the DDJT1, i also have TSP2 with and audio 8, and have a VCI100SE with and Audio 2 so any shortcoming with software or audio interface i got covered, also have 2 X1s on STBY to map for the Sample Dekcs. This will be maonly used at home as i still plan to carry my VCI100 to small gigs, if i need more hardware ill take the DDJ, or can always use my XOne with 1ds and CDJ or CDJS and X1s in the end with all my gear i have endeless possibilities. For me i just wanted a good all in on to use at home and small gigs. In the end i went with pioneer, im a hug NI fan so trust me i thought a ton about it!!!
