Pioneer MixTrack technology

Pioneer MixTrax technology

Not sure what to make of this… Pioneers wannabe DJ replacement technology..

Future of DJing?

What a bunch of toss.

I don’t think we are the target audience here…

This.

This is aimed at the average consumer, looking to have their iTunes library mixed on their head unit. Not sure where in those videos you saw it implied that it was pioneers attempt on the future of dj’ing.

Sorry I was not implying that its useful for DJ’s. I am implying its a DJ REPLACEMENT technology… Sorta like the assembly line.

Sure thats grasping for straws, but…

EDIT: I guess my point is… Will this technology be the start of the demise of the DJ? Sure it’s 1.0 but just think where this will be when 3.0 hits or 4.0… etc.

Wouldn’t worry too much about it, stuff like this won’t replace the ability to rock a dancefloor, good song selection and creative mixing… This just seems like shake-and-bake mixtape (just add water and/or cheesy models pretending to be DJs)

no.

You still need to some to press the play button and jump up and down…

Yeah dj’s draw crowds in - not a machine - maybe a maschine

More info… Have your very own personal DJ!

"Thanks to its proprietary technology, you can rely on the Pioneer Mixtrax music software to mix all your tracks, and it will generally do a better job than any amateur DJ would. "

If you read between the lines, it basically says “It’ll beatmatch for you”. It still won’t have any sense of phrasing, tune selection or harmonic mixing for example.

Let me test that with some jungle and twostep.

Haha, exactly what I thought too. The mixes sounded terrible on the example, not even completely beatmatched and crossfaded over about 4 beats. If that’s a ‘better job than most amateur DJs’ can do, then we’re in trouble…

Maybe 4.0 will come with a projected hologram dj that just Jesus poses all night!! THEN real dj’s are doomed!!!

Wasn’t there a joke about… for $1500 a cdj it should mix itself? Maybe we shouldn’t have suggested that after all…

I’m with everyone else. There’s already versions of this… hell you hit the genius playlist button in itunes and export it to vdj and hit automix… done.

All this video did was show how terrible pioneers fx sound.

i wannna see it transition from some commercial electro to hip hop, back to chart, drop a bit of cheese, sample a few acapellas and then bring in something completely different, then… ill just hand in my notice!

The sad fact is that for a lot of people, a DJ is just a human jukebox. For them, this will easily replace a DJ. So will a regular jukebox, of course.

The demo mix sucked. They’re just looking to make money off our backs - selling to those that like what we do. I’m not threatened by this. But I do think it degrades the perceived value of DJs and adds to the perception by those clueless about what we do that DJs just play songs.

I can see this effecting the dj that has the bar gig playing Top40 every insert day of the week here. It’ll be as simple as a bartender coming up and hitting play and let the music go all night.
