Pioneer XDJ-RX

Pioneer XDJ-RX

Hello,

Considering getting the XDJ-RX, mainly for the mobile party stuff that I’m doing, will be a lot easier than lugging two CDJ 2000s and the Z2 around, and easier to set up!

Just wondering if anyone has one or has used one?

I’m going BPM on Sunday so am going to have a play around on one and might even try and haggle one down a bit.

Thanks

Pioneer just made your decision a bit harder with the DDJ-RX and DDJ-RZ with recordbox 4.

Yes, I’ve just seen that - although I’d have to look into whether or not Rekordbox DJ comes free with those units and what price they’re going to start at.

Looks like it comes free with those units and will cost $129 for use with all other current pioneer gear.
RX - $999
RZ - $1999

It’ll be nice just having one library whether playing of CDJs or a more portable controller + laptop.

Yeah definitely - I’ve tried to determine the differences between the RX and RZ and the only thing I can see currently is the size of the jog wheel is bigger on the RZ, going by the specs - what am I missing?

The RZ has some awesome built-in dub horn sample button.

Sold.

If in doubt, add more air horn.

These are just rebranded versions of the serato controllers SX & SZ I can’t imagine they’ve made any notable changes to he hardware except changing a few knobs and the colour of some LEDs.

DDJ-R = Recordbox
DDJ-S = Serato

The Pioneer serato controllers will all work with the new Recordbox, but will need a licence.
Products that will work with the software at launch include:

DDJ-RX/RZ
DDJ-SB/SR/SX/SX2/SZ
CDJ-2000/2000NXS/900/900NXS/850/350
XDJ-1000
DDJ-WeGO3

I haven’t seen they have mentioned CDJ-850/350 and DDJ-WeGo3, from where are you pulling this?

Also, let’s please move RekordboxDJ discussion into Rekordbox DJ topic, I have posted there

But main topic is about the XDJ-RX, not the software  just happens to coincide with the news of the DDJ-RX/RZ

Question still stands though, what’s the difference between the DDJ-RX & the RZ?

I was referring to rob2192’s last post and future reply, not the whole topic. :+1:

Oh, and also - I think it all depends on thing like: do you need to work with mic/mics, do you need backup (with Z2&CDJ’s you have it), would doing a custom flightcase on wheels or similar solve your problem?, etc…
If you’re lugging your entire PA to mobile gigs, smaller size of RX doesn’t mean as much.

The compatible hardware at release is listed here:
Compatible DJ Units

And so far i’ve not talked about the software at all, only the hardware that will be compatible.

From I can see it’s the same as the SX and SZ except both have had some relatively minor tweaks for the new software.
The biggest difference on the hardware appears to be the addition of sound colour effects for the ‘Filter’ knobs on the RX, (not on the SX, but the ‘Z’ version has always had it) not sure whether this works when running external sources through the RX though.

Thanks Rob, will hopefully find some answers on Sunday too (assuming they’ll have the units there)

magnetic crossfader, CDJ size jog wheels, oscillator FX, dual USB inputs aaaand p-lock fader caps.

DeanOakley if you could report back with some hands on experience that would be great for those of us that won’t be at BPM.

CDJ-850/350 are not listed under compatible dj units?

I certainly will.

I had to wait around an incredibly long time to get onto the XDJ-RX as there was one guy in particular who was using it for well over an hour but it was well worth the wait. For what I am after, it’s perfect, solid feel and really enjoyed using it.

So much so that I bought one there and then, got it for £1050 from the djkit stand.

I didn’t test the new models but watched others and have to say they’re really nice bits of kit and Rekordbox DJ looks very good too.
