Considering getting the XDJ-RX, mainly for the mobile party stuff that I’m doing, will be a lot easier than lugging two CDJ 2000s and the Z2 around, and easier to set up!
Just wondering if anyone has one or has used one?
I’m going BPM on Sunday so am going to have a play around on one and might even try and haggle one down a bit.
Yes, I’ve just seen that - although I’d have to look into whether or not Rekordbox DJ comes free with those units and what price they’re going to start at.
Yeah definitely - I’ve tried to determine the differences between the RX and RZ and the only thing I can see currently is the size of the jog wheel is bigger on the RZ, going by the specs - what am I missing?
These are just rebranded versions of the serato controllers SX & SZ I can’t imagine they’ve made any notable changes to he hardware except changing a few knobs and the colour of some LEDs.
DDJ-R = Recordbox
DDJ-S = Serato
The Pioneer serato controllers will all work with the new Recordbox, but will need a licence.
Products that will work with the software at launch include:
I was referring to rob2192’s last post and future reply, not the whole topic.
Oh, and also - I think it all depends on thing like: do you need to work with mic/mics, do you need backup (with Z2&CDJ’s you have it), would doing a custom flightcase on wheels or similar solve your problem?, etc…
If you’re lugging your entire PA to mobile gigs, smaller size of RX doesn’t mean as much.
The compatible hardware at release is listed here:

And so far i’ve not talked about the software at all, only the hardware that will be compatible.
From I can see it’s the same as the SX and SZ except both have had some relatively minor tweaks for the new software.
The biggest difference on the hardware appears to be the addition of sound colour effects for the ‘Filter’ knobs on the RX, (not on the SX, but the ‘Z’ version has always had it) not sure whether this works when running external sources through the RX though.
I had to wait around an incredibly long time to get onto the XDJ-RX as there was one guy in particular who was using it for well over an hour but it was well worth the wait. For what I am after, it’s perfect, solid feel and really enjoyed using it.
So much so that I bought one there and then, got it for £1050 from the djkit stand.
I didn’t test the new models but watched others and have to say they’re really nice bits of kit and Rekordbox DJ looks very good too.
