Pitch Bend

Pitch Bend

Seriously!! Whats goin on here?

I literally give the pitch bend a slight spin whilst in Scratch mode and it speeds up or slows down the track faaaar to much! Why? It never used to be like this?

It used to feel far more natural like when using a cdj but the way its configured now is proper pants.

I really don’t want to have to swap between cdj and scratch mode does anyone have any better way of this being set up that what’s in the most recent mapping?

:disappointed:

did you change your PB ratio under settings?? for example 8% vs 10% vs 30%.. sound like this could be the culprit.

Its not mapped like that anymore. Its mapped as a button with no way of customising its feel at all.

I’m using the DJTT mapping.

Is it a case of the 8% deal on start up? Try holding shift and moving the pitch fader to center to reset the pitch. I have to do that whenever I start Traktor for the first time I move it up or down it jumps 8%. Frankly I don’t mind that so much because it forces me to go through and do a kind of pre-flight check of everything.

you have to do this on all relative controls. Drives me crazy when I forget to do this & i’m in a set. However, in the case of the pitch fader, if u do it for the deck C it’s also good for deck A etc.

no … outer jogs i’m talking about. Nothing to do with tempo slider, i have to do the same though

Mess with your sensitivity in the transport section of preferences. Try with progressive pitch bend on and off to see what works for you.

There is no possible settings to mess with. It appears in teh new techtools mapping that the pitch bend is mapped as a button not a jog wheel or encoder or whatever.

yeah, I noticed the same thing about those jogg nudges being faaar to sensitive last night while trying to beatmatch. Slowed down a track to a crawl, had a WTF moment.

Will do some adjusting tonight…

The sensitivity adjustment is found in the transport section of preferences, along with he option for progressive bending. (even though the command is just a button with no settings, these prefs will change the behavior).

Was a solution ever found to this stupid shit? And by the way, Zac Kyoti, as usual, has no clue what he’s talking about. I love the now-closed thread http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75638&page=2 where he talks about how people complaining about NI not dealing with issues should “Read The Manual. Experiment more. Program your own tsi files, and do it all before starting a flame war. You’ve gotta narrow any issue down more before expecting NI to fix things (especially if they’re not broken”. It’s pretty goddamned broken. He had no clue what he was talking about in that thread. Has no clue what he’s talking about in this one. Guess how many times “pitch bend” is in the manual? Three times and only in relation to the on-screen buttons. Guess how many times “wheel” or “jog” is in the manual (and not wheel in connection to the cog wheel settings icon)? Zero times.

Correction. It was finally fixed last month in v2.1.1 with the addition of the assignment Jog Turn. That’s been a long wait with Traktor sitting on my hard drive totally worthless for use with controllers.

There is an option for Tempo Bend Sensitivity which can be adjusted and that would more than likely have solved the problem as every other person in this thread has already stated. This option has been in place since before version 2. Why even bring up such an old post? and why bring up what people do on another site?

Dude, as usual, you don’t know a thing about me. Bold words for a noob with two posts on this forum. I’m not sure whether to be offended or laugh your ass right back to your bedroom. First of all, you were looking at a post from 2008 for fucks sake. It’s closed because the issue is resolved. Has been for a LONG time. Second, any confusion regarding the issue was due to there being many different ways of mapping jogs for various kinds of bend behavior, not to mention different controllers that all send unique messages. There’s a ton of different commands that can execute pitch bends in Traktor, two encoder modes, several behavior variations AND sensitivity settings in the command and the preferences. On top of that, this DJTT thread isn’t even about the 2008 issue, it’s about a big speed ramp-up when engaging the bend.

I have never had any problems programming my pitch bends. Someone else might use a different method, or controller, so what works for me might not for them. I have never tried to be anything but helpful to other djs learning the software, and I know both forums would back me up on that.

If you posted what gear you are using, I’d be happy to help you learn what you can’t seem to learn on your own. And FYI, my rankling about flame wars (in 2008) was directly due to major negativity on the NI forum at the time that was getting in the way of a healthy discussion about how to work around a pitch bend problem (again, different than the problem in this thread).

Look around dude. I know this software inside out, and contribute positively all the time. You’re going to read one thread and say “as usual” about me? Seriously, don’t be a troll. And better yet, keep it current. Do you know how many changes there’s been since '08?

Offer still stands. Post your gear, your issue in plain english, and what you want to accomplish. I can try and help you from there. But don’t be a dick. It really won’t serve you.

Pitch bend by jogwheel has been a problem in Traktor Pro for the last couple years. Jog Turn originally did not exist. People like you (and you specifically) have been pretending it wasn’t a problem. “You’ve got progressive pitch bend turned on or you haven’t hit Sync.” Blah, blah. What, no “map Jog Turn”? You were spreading that nonsense dismissing people across multiple forums. I KEEP COMING ACROSS YOU. Same old same old. You don’t help anyone and yet you’re a constant presence on Traktor forums attempting to dominate conversations until the threads are either closed or no one posts again… yet without a resolution. What’s the point? You listening to yourself talk? When you condescend with your totally idiotic suggestions you only show you’ve got no clue what you’re talking about and arguably are incapable of understanding many of the questions people are asking. When I condescend, I’m justified due to the total lack of competence and knowledge on your part. The proof is in the damn pudding.

Condescending? Only to you, man. And only after you’ve shown your true colors.
I’ve learned a huge amount from others here, and incorporate their knowledge and expertise every day. I think my respect for others shows, and their returned respect is earned. But you be the judge, since it seems that’s your thing. Search for Kyoti on this forum or NI, and see what you come up with. Read 'em all, for all I care. I think the record speaks for itself.

Peace out dude, I hope whatever crappy thing going on in your life right now clears up soon.

Zac has helped so many people on here it’s crazy with complex mapping issues.

stands in Zacs corner… not that he needs it

I don’t know what your beef is with Zac Kyoti, but you’ve necro bumped a year old thread and referenced a thread from 2008 so you could bitch about something that in the next post you say has been fixed? In general we don’t put up with that kind of flaming and negativity here so please chill out.
