"Pleasant sounding" DJ routines

“Pleasant sounding” DJ routines

theres a lot of debate going on about how most dj routines are cool to watch but are not bearable without the visuals. Without being able to see whats going on, a lot of routines sound like a huge mess. Anyways I think it would be cool to start a thread with routines that are technical but also sound good (i.e. you would enjoy listening to them in your car and maybe the club).

I’ll start it off:

A-trak obviously

I really love this. Grooving through out

I opened up for this guy (the gaff) a few days ago, incredibly talented guy. he was VERY technical throughout his set (loads of scratching and juggling) and he had everyone grooving the whole time. (If your into this kind of music I highly recommend their soul sisters mix tape, loads of great old school tunes and amazing technical djing)

I play my own “wub wub chop chop routine” out quite a bit and it goes down very well. anyways, lets see some of your favourite “pleasant sounding” routines (doesn’t matter if they’re your own or if they’re by someone big)

Niceeeee keep them coming!!!

Word bro!

It is a good routine! I have it DLed and play it for my mates that want to start going digital to show em that you can still have a good sounding jam while doing a LOT, if you do it cleverly.

hey thanks man, that means a lot! gona make part two sometime soonish!

Check out the Mixfits:

I’ve always thought this pleasant to listen to.

i love these guys! also, that dj angelo routine was awesome!

chinese man too! nice swinging sound on some of their stuff.

that was really cool!

Not a routine as such, but a song performed live on turntables with a loop pedal: -

And one of the first turntable/loop pedal routines I ever saw, which is still one of my favourites: -

those were pretty cool! i love it when scratch samples consist of people playing instruments (rather than just the ahhhhh sound), adds a whole new dimension to the scratch

Yeah, me too man! There’s a time and a place for the ahhhhhhh/fresh stuff, but I love turntable compositions that stand alone as a piece of music.

Not so sure this qualifies as one routine, but there are a few routines that he links in to a mix/showcase… 14:50 :expressionless:

Awesome showmanship too!

that was pretty awesome! i wasn’t really feeling the ending after about 17 minutes, but that’s just personal preference. love those tech sounds that were going on for most of it. very cool!

I thought the same thing. Felt like he just threw it in there to finish it up. Still a great display of creativity and talent though.

My head almost explodes when Fugazi drops…

Z-Trip is one of the best at being highly technical while still sounding great, and his live sets sound better than most peoples highly edited and produced “mixtapes”.
