Please help, ASAP! USB disabled (macbook pro) I’m at a gig now!

Ive got my normal set up with me:

MacBook Pro late 2008
Traktor Scratch Pro 2
Audio 10
Xone 92
Kontrol X1 x2
USB HUB (powered)

Now, i plugged in and set up all as normal, but i kept getting the message on my MBP: “USB disabled, drawing too much power”.

And when Traktor is on, its not recognising my audio 10… the screen flickers a little, same as the X1 led lights…

Luckily there are other people here playing music, but i am unable to at the moment…

Any idea what i can do? Im gutted!!

somehow your hub is not actually providing power, check your AC adapter

Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve

Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer’s power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer’s power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: For Intel-based Xserve computers that are not responding, you can shut down locally, or by using remote commands, or by pressing and holding the power button for five seconds.

The thing is, it’s not the USB Hub that isnt working, as the X1’s connected to it are lighting up, and are usable.

It’s the Audio 10 soundcard… it’s not showing up in TRaktor…

Okay, i tried to do some kind of reset by holding, Command, Option and the P and R keys, but it’s still not helped. I’ll try your method and let you know! Thanks

restart the mac without the audio 10 plugged in, and after you log in then plug it in

nope, still no luck…

If it’s any help, the ‘USB’ green light on the Audio 10 is just flashing on and off…

Could it be the USB cable for the audio 10 thats mucking up? Ah this is horrible! :disappointed:

try a diffrent usb cable, also do you have the ac adaptor for the audio 10?

next…

If you do have the ac adaptor for the audio plugged in, check the polarity (if its plugged in in the right direction)

Same for the usb hub, make sure its plugged into power properly.

If that does not fix it, then re-install the newest driver here… http://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=freeupdates&_ga=1.213038801.473956753.1385674656#Traktor_Audio_10

This sounds like a usb cable problem. Probably a bad or poor quality cable.
I’ve had the same issue in the past with the S4. After switching to high quality usb cables ( those sold by DJTT) I never got that " drawing too much power" message again.

I havent got any spare cables, fuming! Do you think it may be a problem with my MBP?

Hm, it has never ever happened before, so it could be that the cable is just on it’s way out now. Really gutted, was looking forward to playing today!!! Meh.

I guess i’ll just have wait until i get home and swap over USB cables. Really gutted

Swap one of the x1 USB cables to see… Then use just one x1

Also have the pins on the inside of the audio 10 got bent? That happened to me and I had to use two sharp knives to bend em straight

Plug the audio card directly in the Mac and the remaining USB devices into the hub. i was always cautious to plug the high bandwidth items directly into the computer.

Couldn’t do that, as the Audio 10 USB cable is USB-A to macbook and USB-B into the audio 10.

Okay, I’m home now, and have hooked it all back up and swapped the audio 10 usb cable with another, and boom, the USB disabled" message came straight back up… Still got this problem. What the heck has happened?

I’ve plugged my other USB hub into it, which has an external HD connected to it, and my other audio interface that i just use for Logic Pro - all working fine, external HD popped up on mac, no problems… so it’s gotta be the AUdio 10 itself.. Or, the USB port on my MBP id busted, as it can not take the power of the audio 10..

What can i do? I’m gutted..

I do always do this. I have 2 USB ports on my MBP, And I always run it like: USB port 1 - Audio 10. USB port 2 - USB HUb. And then i just plug my 2 X1’s and Maschine into the hub.

Hm, what Von Royale said, it could possibly be a prob with the audio 10 plug? That would make sense why it’s drawing too much power from the MBP, as it’s not powering up.
