please help this noob build a computer for DAW

basically i have been using said DAW with dell xps l401x laptop… time for an upgrade.. only problem is i have no idea how to build a computer and have no knowledge on what parts to get and etc.

i really need someone to literally pick out every part i need, with things like extra usb ports..etc..

other than that , the price… shouldnt exceed 2k but i keep seeing people say you can get good rigs for under 1.5k… if thats the case cool..

but im also worried about 1 other thing.. when i get everything and begin to set it up, i read somewhere you have to do something careful with the motherboard or else if you touch it , you will fry it even before setting it up… could someone clarify that as well for me?

thanks in advance… PEACE:thumbsup:

ABSOLUTELY LOADS of guides for this on the net, mate.

Re: frying the mother board - I expect you were talking about “grounding” or “earthing”.

YoI’ll need a wrist strap to prevent any damage to your components caused by static.

As far as the motherboard goes, when you’re popping it in just touch a metal part of the case to ground you, and you’ll be fine. A strap is nice though. It really isn’t as hard as you might think and actually alot easier then it used to be. When I built my first one when I was 16, you needed a boot disk along with knowledge on some DOS commands. I didn’t know shit then and still got it working. Everything will be pretty obvious where it connects and your motherboard will come with a manual that has a detailed diagram of where things go. Decide first if you want AMD or Intel processor, and pick the mobo and processor first.
